Hermione : RON , HARRY BROKE YOUR EXPENSIVE CHESS SET

Harry: HERMIONE STOP

Seeing people make excuses for FBAWTFT on your post 🤦🏼‍♀️ even if it is a vision or whatever it just shows them clinging to old hp stuff to stay relevant

I suppose everyone’s got different opinions on the series. Personally, I’m finding it difficult to get behind it; what with the myriad of problematic issues surrounding the cast, JK Rowling, apparent racial insensitivity, etc.

I’m not going to get angry at people just for enjoying it, but I personally can’t enjoy the series, and probably won’t be going to see it.

Maybe the McGonagall thing is, like someone on the thread suggested, part of a vision of WW2 (which, if it is the case, means McGonagall will have to be at least ten years old or younger when she appears, given she was born in 1935) . But, until the film makes it clear that she won’t appearing in a part of the film set in 1927, I’m still hesitant to be okay with the matter.

Thanks for the message, @weasleyswizardwinter (love your blog, by the way!).

I wonder if the reasons why so many of the former young HP actors don’t really interact with Emma Watson much nowadays are that 1) they got sick of her apparently diva-like attitude on the sets of the HP films and 2) they got irritated by the way she was heavily favoured by the screen-writers, directors and higher-ups in the production, despite her apparent lack of effort for her role.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I’m not trying to start a fandom war here, so please keep things civil; I’m just curious as to what the consensus is.

@headcanonsandmore I don’t know, I think her going to college in the US really separated her a lot, when she wasn’t in college she was doing a movie and it took her like 5 or 6 years or something. The bond faded I guess, or maybe it’s a message every now and then

@delannscape Good point. I imagine that would have had an impact.

@hillyminne Fair point. Although I have noticed that Rupert, Evanna, Tom, Matt and Bonnie still tend to meet up quite a lot (and Dan too, to a lesser extent). I thought Emma Watson lived in the USA nowadays. The last time she was spotted in the UK was during Wimbledon earlier this year (although I could be wrong).

What do you think about Ron + Blaise or Hermione + Pansy (I hate it, I think it’s just because people ship Drarry and they want their friends to get along? Which is horrible because none of them even like each other.) how do you feel about these ships in particular? I’m pretty sure they’re not your cup of tea, I just want to get another person’s view on why they think people ship them.

I don’t personally like it. Partially because I hate splitting Ron and Hermione up, but there are other reasons too;

A lot of the time, Ron x Blaise seems to be an after-thought. After people pair up Harry with Draco Malfoy, and then Hermione with Pansy Parkinson (both of which are incredibly problematic in so many ways, if we’re going by their canon characters), they then realise ‘oh wait, Ron exists too; okay, well Blaise hung around with Draco and Pansy on the train in HBP, so we can pair him with Ron’.

Arguably, Ron x Blaise is far less problematic than Harry x Draco and Hermione x Pansy, since (while Blaise does have a dislike of so-called ‘blood traitors’ like the Weasleys) he seems to have no interest in Voldemort’s cause. Having said that, he has so little development as a character that it seems like his entire personality is developed from fanon as opposed to canon. The persona of the cool, confident rival to Malfoy who dresses well and always has a witty comeback is almost entirely a fan creation, as is the ‘Draco Malfoy in leather trousers’ trope and the ‘Pansy is Draco’s sassy BFF and partner-in-crime’ trope.

To me, Blaise x Ron is easily the least troubling of the OBS-DF (One Big Slyther-Dor Family) pairings. Most of the time, it seems to be shipped just to make the trio each have a partner in the Slytherin gang, and the other times, it’s because the two characters look hot together in artwork. Having said that, I’ve seen some cute AU fanfic of the pairing (I follow some Ron Weasley appreciation blogs that equally show lots of different Ron pairings aside from Romione). I don’t ship it, but it’s not nearly as bad as other ships.

Hermione x Pansy is far worse (in my opinion, at least). The canon version of Pansy Parkinson is a full-on bully to Hermione, constantly belittling and mocking her throughout their school years. She also had no qualms with giving Harry away to the death-eaters, and used racist language towards Angelina Johnson. Canon!Pansy is just an unpleasant person, and I can’t understand why anyone would ship her with Hermione. The fanon version is far different, of course.

Thanks for the ask, anon.
