and now it is time for the one and only king, RON WEASLEY. i adore him he’s great. i had entirely forgotten how great he was until my latest re-read, the movies don’t do him justice. since he’s one of the main characters there are definitely more amazing things than i can fit on a post so here are my faves:
– ron. shares. everything. even though he doesn’t have much, straight away this kid is ready to share basically his whole life with harry. his room, his mum, his family traditions. the lot.
– RON WEASLEY IS BRAVE. it upsets me that he’s sometimes made out as a bit of a wimp in the movies – in the books, if he backs out of a situation it’s hardly ever down to fear. this kid lets himself be sacrificed to save his friends in PS, goes with harry to see aragog even though he’s terrified of spiders in CoS, stands on a broken leg to put himself between his best friend and someone he thinks is an insane murderer in PoA. RON IS BRAVE.
– although his school marks may not be amazing, ron is really not stupid, he can be super level-headed and ingenious with solutions, like ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT, the joy of which movie-only fans will never know. also basilisk fangs? genius.
– so about that bit. THAT BIT. the moment (in the book) where ron remembers that they have to go free the house elves so that they don’t get hurt in the battle at hogwarts is EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT THIS BOY. remember when he used to laugh at hermione for worrying about house elves? so does he. this moment shows us that he’s grown up, he’s learned so much, which brings me to:
– ron changes. and that’s why he’s so great. he doesn’t always have the right answer like hermione, and unlike harry, he often has the option to turn away from the hard stuff – which sometimes, he takes. but he always comes back. he is one of the characters who learns most, who lets go of past prejudices and poor attitudes (such as to house elves and werewolves), who puts his hands up and admits that he doesn’t always do it right, even if that takes him a while. and when he’s done that, he does literally everything in his power to put it right.

Everything was quiet except for Ron and Hermione’s slow, deep breathing. Harry glanced over at the dark shapes they made on the floor beside him. Ron had had a fit of gallantry and insisted that Hermione sleep on the cushions from the sofa, so that her silhouette was raised above his. Her arm curved to the floor, her fingers inches from Ron’s. Harry wondered whether they had fallen asleep holding hands.
the Drake and Millie situation? why is this being allowed to happen. I know it happens all over the world but here – right in the public eye it’s happening and nobody is thinking anything of it??? Or are turning a blind fucking eye??
Neville is so underrated and under appreciated. He is the most sweet, caring, unproblematic boy ever. He’s so precious and he deserves all the happiness in the world. I love him so much.
