For years this poor creature has been victimized, bashed, beaten down and made to look the fool by hundreds of thousands around the world in a place called fanfiction.

It is unknown why he has been targeted, once loved the world over, now he is forced to live out the remainder of his life as a doormat, punching bag, or lap dog.

When the one he loves most cheats, leaves, is a bitch to him he is forced to accept her back with open arms, forgive with out any redemption and worship her, dignity be damned. If he commits these acts he is forever deemed unworthy of such an amazing woman and she should, under no circumstances, take him back . The doubled slandered must stop.

Help save the dignity of such an amazing rare creature.

This is what I was talking about in the other post. On March 7th, 2012 I was officially done.

I can’t say I blame you, to be honest. The ginger man needs some love.

100 Years of Bisexual Musicians

There’s been at least 1 iconic bi musician in the spotlight for every decade in the last 100 years. And there’s at least one for many genres too!

1910’s: Bessie Smith, Blues & Jazz

She was one of the most popular singers during the time, and was given the nickname “Empress of the Blues”. She embraced her bisexuality. In fact, one of her hits, “It’s Dirty But Good” includes lyrics alluding to lesbian sex.

1920’s: Josephine Baker, Jazz

Cabaret dancer, singer, and actress. She fled the US because of racism and served France in WW2 as a spy against the Nazi’s. She came back to the US and was a civil rights activist. She was more private about her bisexuality but she is linked to bi artist Frida Kahlo.

1930’s: Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Gospel, R&B, Jazz, Rock

She’s called the “Godmother of Rock n’ Roll”, and is a huge pioneer in this genre. The PBS special “Sister Rosetta Tharpe: The Godmother of Rock n’ Roll” tells us she was bisexual, and tried to live as openly as she could during her time.

1940’s: Billie Holiday, Jazz

One of the most legendary jazz singers of all time. Her stormy relationships with men inspired many of her songs, but she was also linked to actress Tallulah Bankhead.

1950’s: Sammy Davis Jr., Jazz, Swing, Traditional Pop

“Rat Pack” singer, dancer, vaudevillian. He was a huge civil rights activist, and after converting to Judaism he found solidarity between the Jewish and black communities’ struggles. He fought for interracial marriage. He was a supporter of gay rights, and spoke openly about his affairs with men and women.

1960’s: Janis Joplin, Pshychedelic Rock, Blues

Bridged the gap between pshychedelic rock/blues and soul. Lived only 27 years but her musical legacy didn’t wait for her death to start influencing the sound of her contemporaries. Openly had relationships with women, hid nothing.

1970’s: Freddie Mercury, Hard Rock, fused with everything else under the sun

The most famous bisexual in history. Voice of an angel. Loved titties. Wouldn’t record a duet with Michael Jackson because he brought his llama to the studio. Musical prodigy. He knew he’d be a legend from the beginning. He was more private about his sexuality, but he dated men and women nonetheless, and he wrote and sang about them.

1980’s: Grace Jones, Funk, Disco

Androgynous icon. No record of her actually using the word “bisexual”, though has declared her attraction to women, and of course married men. She’s a gem. Her early music was rooted in disco, but she brought her own Jamaican reggae influences to the sound. Her striking look made her a favorite muse within the New York art scene of the 70’s and 80’s.

1990’s: Billie Joe Armstrong, Punk Rock

Frontman of Green Day, who are credited with capturing the mainstream’s interest in punk rock. They were still very political, and wrote about not blindly following the government. Their song “Coming Clean” is about him questioning his bisexuality.

2000’s: Amy Winehouse, Jazz, Blues, Soul, R&B

Brought jazz and blues back to the mainstream after 40 years of them essentially being irrelevant to popular music. Her pen game was unmatched. Unapologetically bisexual and sang about women in a few songs.

2010’s: Janelle Monáe, Funk, R&B, Pop

A protégé of Prince, and the funkiest entity in the music industry since his passing. She has spoken about how her gender non-conformity is an homage to her working class roots, and speaks about feminism, race, and sexuality in her music. A legend in the making.

It makes me really happy that bisexuals have played a big part in shaping entertainment and music and have been a huge presence for the past century. Part of why it makes me feel so happy is because bisexuality is often dismissed as performative, attention-seeking, and empty. And it’s like, well…we’re definitely performing…and we just so happen to have gotten attention from it. But it’s not unsubstantial. Bi entertainers are singing about the meaningful relationships that their attraction to multiple genders has enabled them to have.

And they say we’re not good enough

Ron Weasley and His Insecurities Headcanons:

exolovelovelove:

  • He’s not really a messy eater. He just got messy to get Molly’s attention, sometimes Arthur’s attention too, because she always pays attention to Ginny or to the Twins shenanigans during meal times so they can have a peaceful mealtime. Molly gave up scolding him after two months and Ron felt hurt since attention is still attention whether positive or negative. That’s why he’s jealous of Harry’s fame due to the attention and you better stop calling him a pig Hermione.
  • He did not realized he’s stress eating already to fill ‘an empty feeling’. Molly’s food is really good along with his siblings’ secret stash of sweets and the occasional chocolate frogs from Arthur when gets home from work.
  • He quickly learnt to pile his food since in a Weasley Household it’s survival of the fittest during mealtimes after Percy told him so while shoving food on his plate then to Ron’s before giving it to Molly so she could feed Ginny.
  • He likes to bite his nails, whenever he does this Molly’s reminded to cut his nails. He still bites his nails occasionally at Hogwarts.
  • He also developed a habit of biting his lips whether it is upper or lower lip.
  • He scratches his head and massage his nape too. He also stomps on his foot sometimes.
  • Clenching his knuckles, getting red in the face, feet going on a stable position Charlie taught him, tucking his stomach in, and lightly biting his tongue when he’s angry and defensive.
  • He heard the twins and Charlie cursing, they told him he’s not allowed to curse since he’s not cool (the twins) and is still young (Charlie). The first time Ron cursed it felt good because he thinks it’s cool and it’s nice to be not so nice every time, it also lift a heavy feeling from in him and he does not understand but it’s nice.
  • Ron does not like spiders, in fact he’s absolutely terrified of them. It does not only remind him of Fred’s punishment for him breaking Fred’s toy broom, it reminds him of his first failure to keep his promise to himself to only take out the toy broom for a spin then put it back Fred’s toy chest not broken. In short, they remind him of his first failure to keep a promise. That’s why he’s desperately trying to go back to Harry and Hermione, something died in him when he’s 3 years old and if something happened to the two of them it will break him despite wanting to go back to his family.
  • Ron has a puffskein, his first ever responsibility and first pet and first not-a-hand-me-down. Arthur gifted him the puffskein because he wanted a puppy even if he knows he could not have one. He absolutely loved it and took care of it really well that the twins took it from him and used it as beater practice without informing him. He just found his puffskein dead in the morning outside of the Burrow and he got traumatized that he let his child pet die. That’s why he’s protective of Scabbers, Hermione you righteous prat.
  • He fears he’ll be left behind and be the black sheep of the family. His father is the Head of his department before he was even born, his mother is an amazing woman who kept them in line and can raise hell, Bill is the poster child and good at everything and he protects him from the twins pranks, Charlie is the greatest of all his siblings, Percy is the smart one and is destined for great things since Molly told him so, the twins got each other and despite things Molly always got her attention on them and they bring smiles to people, Ginny is the only girl for 7 generations and she’s perfect and their princess and always got new albeit secondhand clothes and not a hand me down, Harry is the boy who lived and you know who’s slayer and Gryffindor’s pride, and Hermione’s the brightest witch of her age and is generally amazing so… what is he? People automatically assume he’s the sidekick, he’s the unpopular of the golden trio, and he’s the golden boy’s shadow but he does not want to be those things. He wants to be a hero too.
  • He hates being poor as he feels his family deserve every good thing in the world along with the other poor families. He hates not being enough and can’t give some help.
  • He always want to please everyone even if sometimes he wants to piss off certain someones.
  • He got his heart on his sleeve. That’s why he’s so affected by the Horcrux despite blood loss and almost 24/7/365 with another horcrux for 7 years (Harry Potter).

Fell free to add more guys.

NATIONWIDE TRACTION, PLEASE!

Keep up the energy. Inspire the youth vote.

Be sure you’re ready to go to the polls November 6th! Or have your mail in ballot sent (if your state does that)

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Make sure you organize for your out of state ballot to come LONG before you think you would need to do it. I tried to vote out of state for my local elections last year and I called to get my ballot sent to my university address. Unfortunately my ballot got lost in the mail on its way to me and I was NEVER able to get another. When I called my local office to ask them to send another they told me it was “too close to the deadline” to send me another ballot.

DONT BE LIKE ME FOR THIS MIDTERM!!!!!!

Organize/call/request an out of state ballot NOW. Before it’s too late for it to “get lost in the mail”.

I have absolutely no proof that my local office even sent my ballot, except their word on the phone. And this was just a local election (but don’t get me wrong all elections are important). All I know is that people are going to great lengths to stop other people from voting during this midterm election. DONT LET THAT BE YOU! DONT FALL PREY TO THIS SITUATION.

So, some context for this:

The Supreme Court has heard several cases about gerrymandering. The consensus is, basically, that political gerrymandering is okay (redistricting based on whether the house is Democratic or Republican), but racial gerrymandering is not okay – regardless of whether it’s meant to help or hinder minority voters. “Wait, help minority voters?” I hear you asking. Yup! Historically, some districts have been made all-black specifically because a racially-mixed district would never elect black politicians, and would essentially nullify the votes of any black voters. When the district was divided up for those reasons, a Republican majority has struck it down for being racist. But Hunt v. Cromartie (2000) says, basically, that if all the Democrats just happen to be black, then it’s okay, because it’s on political lines, not racial ones.

Okay, but that’s gerrymandering. What about other tactics to suppress your opponent’s vote that’s not gerrymandering?

The case quoted above is a case from 2016. After Shelby County v. Holder, which struck down parts of the Voting Rights Act that required some states to ask permission before changing their voting laws, North Carolina’s Republican government (including then-Governor Pat McCrory) basically set about undoing as many things that helped black voters as possible. Are there IDs that mostly black people use? They’re no longer valid. Do black people tend to both register and vote early? Eliminate early registration and early voting. Do black people tend to vote more on Sundays because of their church’s help (such as carpooling from the church parking lot)? Get rid of that, too!

And when asked about it, their justification is essentially the same as the one in Cromartie. “It’s not racist, it’s anti-Democrat. We’re just trying to keep Democrats from voting, and they just happen to be black!”

The Fourth Circuit (it never got to the Supreme Court, thank God) says, basically:

  • Your reasoning is bad and you should feel bad;
  • There’s no way you can justify this with “trying to stop the Democrats” when everything you got rid of was aimed at hurting the black vote;
  • Even if you were trying to stop the Democrats, having race as a factor at all lets us infer that you intended to be discriminatory;
  • Actually, wait, we don’t even have to infer it, because you fucking told us with your actual mouths that you intended to discriminate against black people, you literal dumbfucks.

So they struck down the law (though Republicans keep trying to change it or alter it – this article I’m linking to was published yesterday).

I’m writing all this out partially because I’m a nerd who likes context, but also partially for this reason:

  • There is legal precedent that can, under certain circumstances, allow racially-biased voting laws so long as no one says they’re racially-biased. This is a major hurdle to pretty much any legal challenge to discriminatory voting laws.
  • Despite this, you can still take down those laws – it’s never impossible to overturn a bad law, even if there’s not a lot of evidence, though of course it’s easier if you have evidence that good on your side (THEY SAID IT. OUT LOUD. IN COURT).
  • A really good way to get rid of bad laws if you aren’t up to suing the government (though please, please, sue the government)? Fucking vote. The original omnibus law wouldn’t have been passed if Republicans weren’t in office.

Vote.

Vote them out.

“These jeans aren’t my favourite” you really just wanted to Ron us of Ron in tight jeans, huh?

Well, they couldn’t have the fans drooling over Rupert for half the film, could they? Also, it probably would have distracted Emma and Dan from their lines. Rupert was devastatingly attractive as he was, without adding tight jeans into the mix.
