Whenever I see this video I’m always struck that the kids are so quick to say what their friends are GOOD AT or what their friends enjoy. They’re so quick to build each other up!
it makes me sad that there are so many people who headcanon draco malfoy as a healer and complain about harry potter becoming an auror instead of a dada professor (when harry is naturally adventurous, has a saving-people thing, and wasn’t particularly passionate about teaching), yet no one talks about the fact that ron weasley could’ve become a professional chess player. no one entertains the idea of ron pursuing a career in confectionery. no one headcanons ron as a professional writer/cartoonist, even when it’s canon that ron weasley reads comic books. why doesn’t anyone remember that ron weasley is talented and brilliant and has hopes and dreams too?
when thesecond years were told to pick new subjects, never forget that harry potter picked the same new subjects as ron, “feeling that if he was lousy at them, at least he’d have someone friendly to help him.” this is so important to me because he could’ve easily thought, “i’ll just pick the same subjects as hermione. she’s super smart and she’ll help me,” but he picked his subjects while thinking about ron. ron weasley is so important to harry potter and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise.
