summer either,” Hermione finished, ignoring Ron.
“I’m tall,” said Ron inconsequentially.
And here he is willing to do anything to protect her.
“I know,” said Lupin. “Nevertheless, unless you can prove that
you have at least one close Wizarding relative, you are now deemed
to have obtained your magical power illegally and must suffer the
punishment.”
Ron glanced at Hermione, then said, “What if purebloods and
half-bloods swear a Muggle-born’s part of their family? I’ll tell everyone
Hermione’s my cousin —”
Hermione covered Ron’s hand with hers and squeezed it.
“Thank you, Ron, but I couldn’t let you —”
“You won’t have a choice,” said Ron fiercely, gripping her hand
back. “I’ll teach you my family tree so you can answer questions
on it.”
Even be tortured and or killed in her place.
“Take these prisoners down to the cellar, Greyback.”
“Wait,” said Bellatrix sharply. “All except … except for the
Mudblood.”
Greyback gave a grunt of pleasure.
“No!” shouted Ron. “You can have me, keep me!”
Ron Weasley, who keeps a cool head under pressures losses it completely when Hermione’s being tortured.
“HERMIONE!” Ron bellowed, and he started to writhe and struggle against the ropes tying them together, so that Harry staggered.
“HERMIONE!” “Be quiet!” Harry said. “Shut up, Ron, we need to work out a way —”
“HERMIONE! HERMIONE!”
“We need a plan, stop yelling — we need to get these ropes off —”
Hermione screamed again from overhead, and they could hear
Bellatrix screaming too, but her words were inaudible, for Ron
shouted again, “HERMIONE! HERMIONE!”
Harry felt the ropes fall away and turned, rubbing his wrists, to
see Ron running around the cellar, looking up at the low ceiling,
searching for a trapdoor.
Ron was now trying to Disapparate without a wand.

Ron had had a fit of gallantry and insisted that Hermione sleep on the cushions from the sofa, so that her silhouette was raised above his.
Hermione’s voice being the only one he reacts to.
“Then the poisoner didn’t know Slughorn very well,” said Hermione, speaking for the first time in hours and sounding as though she had a bad head cold. “Anyone who knew Slughorn would have known there was a good chance he’d keep something that tasty for himself.”
“Er-my-nee,” croaked Ron unexpectedly from between them. They all fell silent, watching him anxiously, but after muttering incomprehensibly for a moment he merely started snoring.
This is just fucking adorable
Ron seemed to come to himself slightly as they walked back across
the Great Hall. He touched the spot on his face where Hermione had
kissed him,
