Having a crush on a childhood friend is bad enough.

But then add-in the fact that your families are incredibly close, so much so that everyone except you sees each-other as basically-family. Constantly hearing the phrase ‘we’re all basically family’, and feeling awkward because you definitely don’t see one of them as a family member.

At which point, you feel like the universe is playing a incredibly harsh practical joke on you.

Ron is the type of bloke who walks down the street, and ends up collecting womens’ phone numbers without meaning to.

Harry is torn between laughter at Ron’s oblivious reaction (’Mate, why are these muggle women giving me these weird strings of numbers?’) and terror at the prospect of Hermione breaking the International Statute of Secrecy because she looks like she’s going to hex all the women as they give their numbers to her boyfriend.

For everyone’s information:

The plan for the 17th, when the adult content ban comes in, is to protest.

To do that, we are making as much noise either side of the 17th as possible, and using the site as normal.

On the 17th, dead silence.

People are saying log off but what they really mean is don’t open the site or the app.

But, on the 17th make as much noise as possible on every other platform. Tweet about it and post on facebook and instagram and everywhere else.

What this does is causes a massive dip in ad revenue for one single day. That does not make staff think ‘oh everyone’s gone let’s shut down.’ What it actually makes them think is ‘oh shit people aren’t happy and if people don’t keep using our site we’re out of money and out of jobs.’

A boycott reminds a company that the users (consumers) have the power to make their site (business) worthless with one single coordinated decision.

If you want to join in, here’s what to do:

Do:

  • Close all open instances of the app and site on all your devices before the 17th
  • Make posts before and after the 17th on tumblr and other platforms, talking about why this ban is bad
  • Make posts on other sites during the 17th. Flood the official tumblr staff twitter and facebook with your anger and your opinion
  • Come back on the 18th and check in

Don’t:

  • Delete the app from your phone (this doesn’t affect their revenue and since it’s off the store at the moment it’ll be hard to get back)
  • Delete your account. I mean you can if you want to, but if you keep your account and don’t use it you’re saying to staff that there’s still time to save it. If you delete it’s hard work to come back.
  • Open the app or website (including specific blogs)
  • Make any posts (turn down/off your queue and make sure nothing is scheduled)
  • Go quiet elsewhere. Make it clear that this is just about tumblr, not a mass move away from all social media.

Remember: the execs don’t care about anything but money. Shutting down the site means there’s $0 further income from it. That’s their last possible course of action. If we make it clear we’re not happy, they’ll have to do something or we can do more and more until it becomes too expensive.

Protests take commitment. They’re a defiant action against a business that is doing something wrong. They will try to scare you into not participating, because they’re scared. We hold all the power here, sometimes the execs just need to be reminded of that.

ginny/luna muggle au.

luna owns a bakery ginny stumbles upon one day. luna and ginny strike up a conversation, and luna draws an adorable little drawing on her paper cup, so ginny starts going there even though it’s horribly out of her way. like one whole town over out of the way. first it’s once a week, then twice, then soon she’s making any excuse she can. and to be fair, luna does make the best macrons – these white chocolate passion fruit ones – that ginny has ever had.

they become fast friends, but for some reason never really make plans to hang out. eventually ginny confesses that she’s been going out of her way this entire time, and soon after, she comes to the bakery to find a sign on the door that says that it’s closed down.

she despairs and tries to find luna on social media and fails. the facebook page for the bakery hasn’t been updated in over a year. ginny falls into this deep despair when she realizes that she doesn’t know how to get in touch with this girl, and dammit, she might have feelings for her.

because luna is a whole town over, no one knows her, and ginny is about to lose hope when sees luna setting up a new bakery in ginny’s town. and luna says that she didn’t want ginny having to travel all that way to see her, and ginny realizes that luna returns the feelings, and of course they date and end up happily ever after. the end.

send me a made-up fic title and i’ll tell you what i would write to go with it

I don’t know why people say that reading Goblet of Fire is painful, because of the Ron/Harry fight. The “Harry misses his Wheezy and everything he does reminds him of his Wheezy” and “Harry and Hermione don’t get along so nicely without Ron” stuff makes me so happy. It basically proves my point that Ronarry > H*rmione. Hell, Ronarry > anything else.

The Mirror of Erised

So at this point it’s sort of common knowledge that ‘erised’ is just ‘desire’ backwards.

I just had a really painful thought of, what if the other side of the mirror is just a glimpse into an alternate universe? And so when Ron looks into the mirror and sees himself as Head Boy and Quidditch Captain, a Ron who is both in another universe is looking into the mirror and seeing himself as just a regular kid.

And when Harry looks into the mirror and sees his parents(and family, if it’s the books), his parents(and family) are looking into the mirror in another universe, seeing their son Harry, who died before they could see him grow up.

Just a thought.

Crying…

I’ve always liked the Mirror of Erised scene, because it basically establishes Harry and Ron as alternate universe versions of each other. They both like Quidditch, they both have tempers, they both regularly put themselves in harms way to defend others, and in the Mirror, they each see what the other one has.

Ron, who has a large family and has spent his entire life being overshadowed by them, sees himself standing alone and being lauded for his acheivements.

Harry, who has all the fame he could need and is already talented enough to have been made the youngest seeker in a century, but has never had any family worth the name, sees himself surrounded by scores of loving relatives.

Essentially, Ron is what Harry would probably have turned out like if Lily and James had lived. (And before you say that Harry wouldn’t have had any older siblings to live up to— though he might well have had younger ones— stop for a minute and imagine starting first year with the reputation of the Marauders hanging over you.)

Ron is Harry’s Mirror of Erised.

But what if the mirror of Erised is a mirror into another reality. So in Harry Potter’s universe it shows you what you most desire, right?

So let’s say that what you see in the mirror exists in another universe. What if the mirror of Erised is there as well and they can look into the original universe.

What if the other side of the mirror looks at it and in their universe they look upon their greatest fear.

So while George looks into the mirror and sees his brother. Other universe George looks into the mirror and sees himself alone.

Harry looks into the mirror and sees his family, other Harry looks into the mirror and sees himself an orphan.

And so on and so forth…

I love it when people contribute honesrtly 10/10 tumblr y’all are the real mvp’s.
