I know there’s a lot of tension after Tumblr’s new policy annouced for December 17th, but reblog this if you aren’t leaving Tumblr so that other blogs can know they aren’t going to be completely alone!
As a half black girl with really poofy hair, I have a lot of experience with people hugging me and then spluttering because they got my hair in their mouths, and I feel like this is a struggle that Hermione Granger can relate to. I strongly believe that Ron has long since accepted that physical affection means a face full of hair.
Let’s be honest, Ron loves Hermione’s hair. Probably spent most of his teenage years staring at it in awe and love.
Fanfiction is not now nor ever will be a waste of time, uncreative, or automatically inferior to canon.
It is an invaluable tool that enriches fandom and allows authors to build their creative chops in a setting that encourages feedback and communal discussion.
In some cases, fandoms with disappointing canon material can be kept alive solely through the work of dedicated fan-authors, fan-artists, and other content creators.
Do not let anyone suggest that fan-work is without value.
yknow if romeo had just Cried on juliets corpse for a couple hours instead of drinking poison Right Then they would have been Fine
The moral of the story is: always take time to cry for a few hours before making important decisions.
So I’m more or less being facetious here, but this is actually a thing.
Hamlet is genre savvy. Hamlet knows how Tragedies work, and he’s not going to rush in and get stabby without making absolutely certain he’s got all the facts.
Except once he thinks he has all the facts – once he’s certain that it really is the ghost of his father and Claudius really did kill him, he rushes in and stabs the wrong guy, which starts a domino line of deaths and gets Laertes embroiled in his own revenge tragedy and ultimately results in the deaths of nearly every character other than Horatio.
That’s the irony and the tragedy of the story. Hamlet knows his tropes and actively tries to avoid them, and the tropes get him anyway. It’s inevitable, the tropes are hungry.
I want a sticker that says the tropes are hungry so I can put it on my laptop
i met a scholar once who said that tragedies aren’t about a silly “flaw” or anything, it’s about having a hero who’s just in the wrong goddamn story
if hamlet swapped places with othello he wouldn’t be duped by any of iago’s shit, he’d sit down & have a good think & actually examine the facts before taking action. meanwhile in denmark, othello would have killed claudius before act 2 could even start. but instead nope, they’re both in situations where their greatest strengths are totally useless and now we’ve got all these bodies to bury.
The tropes are hungry and the hero is in the wrong goddamn story.
Hey guys,I’m focusing on finals right now, but I’m popping in just to address some things in the wake of the craziness that’s happening on this site. Just so you all know this is a side blog attached to a main fandom blog that I’ve had since 2011 so I absolutely for the life of me cant remember all that I’ve reblogged and whether or not i’ll get hit in this ban(even tho both blogs are sfw).
But even if I don’t get hit, I’m sticking it out. I’ve survived every purge , from Livejournal to fanfiction.net and I’m not going anywhere because I’ve built a little space here where I can gush about Ron and connect with other Ron lovers and I refuse to abandon that just because Tumblr doesn’t want to address the source of the problem. I urge others not to outright delete ( no matter how tempting it is) their tumblr and to back your stuff up to WordPress just in case( cause the bots they are using are going after things that absolutely sfw. Don’t get complacent. Tags like Lgbt are getting hit. Back your stuff up)
I love you guys and if we’ll all still here after Dec 17th let’s party.
So, Rowan Blanchard liked some really biphobic tweets that I’ll post screenshots below. I’ve also heard she liked a tweet asking how to say fag in Italian, but I looked at her likes for 5 or 10 minutes and didn’t see it. That’s not saying she didn’t, I just can’t find it. I also remember her tweeting an ‘apology’ that was basically ‘I’m queer, so I can’t be wrong about this’ but, again, I don’t have screenshots of it, so if you want to take my word for it, you can, but if you don’t, then don’t.
Emma Watson has worn several revealing outfits, which isn’t bad at all, if she hadn’t shamed people for the same thing previously and never apologized.
Here are the screenshots about both:
I’m not saying people shouldn’t like them, and both have done good things, but I just don’t think they’re pillars of good feminism, ya know?
Thoughts, everyone? Please keep things calm; I don’t want to inadvertently start a comment war over here.
hot take: the problem isnt the manic pixie dream girl. its the boring ass moody emotional leech guy she always gets paired with. we need more manic pixie dream characters. just give them partners who are as great as them or let them be happy alone! no more smart, beautiful, optimistic, kind girls getting paired with actual mosquitoes of men!
Also: make some manic pixie dream boys. If I wanna see romance maybe I wanna see a giddy boy full of positive energy who tells you fun facts about the constellations. Stop teaching boys they have to be moody and sad and they have to find salvation in a dream girl, this is how you breed Bad Men.
Straight up nobody hugged Harry Potter from the ages of 2-11 can we discuss this
Nobody hugged Severus Snape from the ages of 0 to 38, just saying.
Nobody hugged Severus Snape probably because if someone shows Severus Snape kindness he becomes insanely obsessed with them and refuses to leave them alone and calls them racial slurs when they express that they want to be left alone and will one day walk over their husband’s dead body and cradle their lifeless form in his arms while the baby screams
Go OFF
S L A Y
@bigbadpandabear- YOU. I LIKE YOU.
Also, to the snape fan-
We don’t know crap about Severus’s mom. He was keen to use her name and in the summers lives in his childhood home in his thirties. His mum might very well have hugged him.
Let’s not bring that ‘woe is Snape’ headcanon up in here when we’re talking about Harry’s documented trauma.
Also- You telling me Lily never hugged Snape when they were younger? Those two were best friends for like 7 years. She was known as being warm and kind. Even for repressed brits (no offense my luvies) no hugs between good childhood friends? Even one sided? Naw.
And how did he repay her friendship? Called her slurs, joined a cult hellbent on killing people just like her, got her and her husband killed, then was emotionally and physically abusive to her child for years…..Like… nooooo
This is why I still believe that snape is:
None taken, @hillnerd; although British women were far less repressed than British men were at that time.
