you know…….i fully acknowledge that ron’s behaviour in the yb was totally out of line and he 100% deserved to be called out. however, I can’t tell you how many times ive read a fic, where the same damn scenario took place. “X gets jealous when Y dances with Z because X and Y have unresolved sexual tension.” it seems to me that people don’t have a problem with jealousy and misunderstandings taking place. they have a problem with the fact that it happened to romione.

Yeah, like… Ron’s behavior at the Yule Ball falls into the, “Yes Karen, it’s a story, frequently involving things like conflict and dramatic tension” category of problematic behavior. Ron and Hermione would have been much happier and better adjusted if Ron had been prepared to admit his feelings for Hermione at that moment, but it would have been a heck of a lot less entertaining to read.

yeah, and it’s good to note that ron got called out on his shit. can’t say the same for hermione when she got jealous.

Ron: Hermione, I think you’re really pretty.
Hermione: (not really paying attention) That’s nice, Ron.
Ron: I would really like to date you.
Hermione: (still not paying attention) I see.
Ron: I’ve been in love with you since the moment I met you.
Hermione: (not paying Ron the slightest bit of attention) That’s really lovely, Ron. Harry, do you think we all need to talk about Voldemort’s latest scheme?
Harry: (sobbing incoherently in frustration into his hands)

Its 2018. Its been 11 long years. What do you think about fandom’s view on Ron Weasley Now?? Do you think now people see him in a more positive light?

Good question.

I think we’re getting better. We’ve moved past the “Ron will betray Harry and become a death eater” stage (I wasn’t there to witness that particular shitstorm but once upon a time, people were stupid enough to believe that nonsense.) At this point, the sane people have accepted that movie!ron is not an accurate portrayal of Ron Weasley, and Ron would become a death eater the day I become a Draco Malfoy stan. The fandom is becoming more appreciative of him. I’ve noticed that people who were indifferent about Ron are also becoming more protective of him, and I’ve read an amazing Ron defense post written by a Dr*mione shipper. (back in 2007, that would’ve been unthinkable.)

There are still plenty of Ron haters, aka hardcore Hermione stans and/or Harmonians, but I just pity them because of their hypocrisy and lack of empathy. Ron bashing fics still exist but they don’t bother me anymore because imo they’re done in a “I’m a lazy writer and I know there’s no way that Hermione would bone Draco so I’ll just take the easy route and bash Ron.” Most people recognize that those fics are shitty but they are simply guilty pleasures.

At the end of the day, while I’m pleased that Ron’s getting more respect, I’m a greedy piece of shit so I won’t rest until every HP fan loves him as much as I do, and accepts that there’s more to Ron Weasley than the Guy Who Made Mistakes. I won’t be satisfied until everyone appreciates that he is a kind, intelligent, and heroic bamf.

Thanks! ^^ When I read your first question I thought you’re asking about real cuddles :’) Anyway, this is how I go about it, sometimes I alredy have a pose in mind, but then it’s just trying until I get it right. Sometimes I use references. But this technique is really relaxing, I love to draw this way 😀 Hope it helps!
