I still have yet to understand why Ron is considered the ‘token straight’ in the golden trio.

I mean, Harry ‘the bi who lived’ Potter is almost-canon by this point, and Ron (even if you don’t think he fancied Krum) certainly has many close relationships with other boys.

If anyone is the token straight of the trio, it’s Hermione. She just doesn’t like other women that much.

The things Hermione is exasperated by in women, I think she’d be far more exasperated by in men. Feminist women who are attracted to men have very high standards for dating since they are more often disillusioned with traditional gender roles. Educating men about their privilege is exhausting, and it’s not usually the basis of a relationship of equals since the woman has to invest so much time in just getting a partner who’s compassionate and thoughtful, who’s aware of how much space they take up in the world and who might need it more. Orrrr we could just date other women who don’t need to be educated about what it’s like to live as a woman under patriarchy, because we already know! I have a lot of bi/pan feminist women friends who have sworn off dating men after too many bad experiences, and whatever Hermione wants in her relationships, she is too analytical to fall into the unexamined role of heterosexual relationships just because they are default.

Hmmm. Interesting thoughts. I personally think that Hermione isn’t really attracted to anyone other than Ron. Granted, she might have had a childhood crush on Lockhart and been flattered by Krum’s attention, but she only ever seems to be attracted to Ron Weasley and no-one else. And, unlike a lot of men, Ron doesn’t consider Hermione’s intelligence to be emasculating for him; in fact, he actually finds it admirable and attractive. That’s not to say that their post-DH relationship is all plain-sailing, of course, but that’s just the reading I make of their relationship.

I wasn’t trying to imply that heterosexual relationships were somehow ‘the default’ and I apologise if my post came across that way.

What I meant was that (from what I’ve gathered from a few of my mutuals) Hermione doesn’t really get along with other women that much (especially women of similar age to her).

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this?

2, 3 and 27 for the Ron ask

weasleyismyking540:

2. What’s your Ron OTP: Romione of course!!

NOTP: Ron/Lavender, Ron/Draco, Ron/anybody that isnt Hermione lol

OT3: There is only Ron and Hermione lol

and BrOTP: Ron/Harry of course!! I also love Ron being closest to Bill. Also Ron/Ginny, Ron/Luna, and Ron/Sirius

3. What are your top 5 headcanons for Ron Weasley?

That he would leave snacks out for Hermione on days where he would notice she wouldnt eat due to studying all the time. Especially during third year. Even when he was pissed at her.

That Bill taught him how to play chess and he is the only opponent that he cannot beat yet.

His favorite muggle device is the telephone because he liked having long conversations with Hermione on it and even when phones updated and texting became available, he always preferred calling and talking to people over texting.

27. If you could meet Ron Weasley and tell him anything, what would it be? This world does not deserve you and never listen to anything these bashers of you about here. And to let me know whenever you wanna ride out on Kloves lol.

11, 14, 15, 20 Ron ask :)

weasleyismyking540:

11. All in all, what are your thoughts (good and bad) on how J.K Rowling treated Ron? I love that she wrote him. She wrote him as the typical teenager going through teenage things handling it in a teenage way while also dealing with things that were way above his age. I love that she wrote him as loyal. I love that she wrote him as such a great friend. I love that she flawed him in a way that was relatable.

I do NOT like that she allowed the directors and writers of the movies to trash Ron’s character the way they did. If I was her, I wouldn’t have let that happen. You allowed a writer to have his way and take lines and moments from Ron and give them to Hermione, you let them reduce him to nothing but laughs, you let them make it seem like he was such an ogre, like you sat back and allowed them to ruin one of your best characters like it was nothing. For shame. I’ll never forgive that.

14. What is your unpopular opinion about Ron Weasley? Shoot these days it seems like all opinions are unpopular the way people love to make Ron out to be worse than a Death Eater. But to narrow it down, I think one that seems to be really unpopular is that I feel like he was right to put Hermione in her place about S.P.E.W and how she was going on about it. Hermione meant well, but as Ron said, she couldnt just force them to free themselves. They had to make that choice on their own.

15. What’s an aspect of Ron’s character that you think people should discuss more? HOW HE WAS A GREAT PERSON!! LOL Also, how he didnt have to be all about books to be smart, which is something that really rubs me the wrong way. People wanna call Ron dumb just because he wasnt like Hermikne when it came to learning. So stupid. You dont have to read everything to be intelligent. There are tons of people in the world that read all the time and still think the earth is flat.

20. If someone spiked Ron’s pumpkin juice with Veritaserum and asked him to pick between Harry or Hermione, who would he pick? Who does he love the most? Lmbo. During Hogwarts days, probably Harry. But after the war and them getting together, he would pick Hermione because their love would have been different.

I like to think McGonagall made sure Hogsmeade trips coincided with Valentines Day just on the off-chance that Ron and Hermione ended up going without Harry.

McGonagall definitely shipped Romione. My theory is that, she must have known that Harry would find a way to sneak into Hogsmeade. She just wanted Ron and Hermione to have some alone time.

What if Harry was in on it?

Good point. He was the original Romione shipper.
