I have always loved redheads for some unknown reason, even when I was too young to understand it. So when I first time read read Harry Potter books, I didn’t care about Harry at all. I always liked to read about Weasleys and Fred and George were my absolute favourites. Now I’m over 20 years old and I still love redheads and Weasleys will always have a special place in my heart.
Pretty sure the HP series helped contribute to an entiregeneration having a thing for redheads.
Steve Kloves was the screenwriter for 7/8 Harry Potter films. The only film he wasn’t involved with was Order of the Phoenix, and while that film still had major flaws due to David Yates’ directing, it’s still regarded as being slightly better than Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban. Kloves was involved with Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets, but due to Chris Columbus’ directing, those two were able to stay more on-track as book-to-film adaptations.
Many fans dislike Kloves because of his treatment of Ron, Ginny, and Hermione. Ginny has no personality, and Ron is often portrayed as the lazy, unintelligent, annoying sidekick in order to hype up Hermione. Kloves admitted that Hermione is his favorite character, and that’s great! I love Hermione! But he demeaned Ron in order to lift up Hermione.
There are many times in the films where Hermione is given Ron’s lines and/or portrayed as Harry’s best friend. For example, in the third film, Hermione turns to Sirius Black (whom she and Ron thought was out to kill Harry) and said “If you want to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill us too!” In the book, however, Ron is the one who stands on a broken leg and tells Sirius that he’ll have to kill him and Hermone if he wants to kill Harry.
Also from the third film: Snape fills in for Lupin’s Defense Against the Dark Arts class. He asks a question, Hermione answers, and Snape takes points away from her for “being an insufferable know-it-all.” What does Ron do? Movie!Ron turns to Harry and says, “He’s right, you know.”
Compare that Ron to book!Ron who says, “You asked a question, and she knows the answer! Why ask a question if you don’t want to be told?”
And don’t even get me started on his treatment of canon ships in order to hype up Harmony…which will never be canon.
Ron is kind, loving, and loyal. Kloves destroyed all of that. Ron deserves better, Rupert Grint deserves better, and the fans deserve better. I’ll never forgive Kloves for what he did to Ron. If you have anymore questions, don’t hesitate to send me another message!
‘I hung out with Bonnie, Matt and Tom in Paris
where we did a convention [..] We have a mutual understanding and completely love and
support each other on our various journeys. I keep an eye on what
everyone is up to and attend their movies and plays and feel so proud
and inspired watching what everyone has gone on to do. ‘ ~ Evanna Lynch~
I love how so many of the HP cast are still really close, despite how much time has passed since the film series finished.
As much as I like seeing Bonnie Wright getting to play Ginny in more depth, I find it hard to believe that Molly Weasley would forget which Harry Ginny was probably talking about. How many Harry’s do you know that Ginny gets excited about seeing, Molly?
Okay, I know I ship Dramione, but when I genuinely think about all the ships, I just can’t put any ship above Ron and Hermione. They both loved each other, no matter how much marriage counselling they needed, they both deserved each other. The movies messed everything up and Romione was abrupt, but in the books, they were lovely little dorks in love. Ron’s whole character was ruined, not just Ron, Ginny, Draco, and Neville, too. Neville’s was okay, but many things were missed. Draco was okay, too, but there is so much more to his character. Ginny and Ron’s characters are out of question of whether the characterisation was good or bad. It was bad. I know you can’t put everything thing in one single movie, but I’m still pretty pissed.
I don’t ship dramione at all but I completely agree with everything mentioned 😍
I don’t ship Dramione either, but I am here for everything-else you said!
