I’m rereading Chamber of Secrets, and Ron is just amazing. I mean his best mate has ignored TWELVE invitations to come stay with him and has done illegal magic, and Ron just bypasses insecurity entirely and stages a rescue mission. God bless Ronald Bilius Weasley.

12 year old Ronald Weasley is a more responsible parental figure than every single adult Harry has ever met at that point.

Fred and George too. In fact I’m almost more impressed with them, because even if Ron was a tad too young to understand how disturbing the situation was, they were old enough to probably clock it as Child Abuse™️ rather than just the Dursleys being weird. They intervened, personally, to help, but didn’t make a big thing out of it that might have made Harry self-conscious or anxious. Whatever distress they felt about what they saw at the Dursleys, they followed the cardinal rule of trauma and processed it with someone equally or less affected than themselves, rather than talking about it as nauseum with Harry and creating more emotional labor for the victim.

head canons that Ron would start off by being a jerk if Harry came out as bi to him are ridiculous, the most likely outcome would be Ron planning to say it at the same time and both of them actually talking about their sexuality and totally fucking accepting each other

When has Ron ever given Harry crap for anything until book 7 when the horcrux is feeding him poison? Like, honestly- even in GoF, Harry is the one yelling at Ron- not visaversa.

Harry is supported by Ron throughout the books- he would most def. NOT be a jerk. Like, Ron supported Harry when the boy was talking to Snakes and had Voldemort visions, and was screaming at him. You honestly think he’d be a jerk because Harry was bi? Yeah effing right.

At most I can see him being a bit like a person’s clueless mom who is trying to be super supportive, but is like so awkward. Especially as this is in the 90s, when bi wasn’t that commonly talked about. Like, honestly, I think at most Ron would immediately ask him a ton of questions, some of them a bit foot in your mouth because he’s surprised- and Harry would be like ‘ew, Ron, Merlin! No!’ about some of them-  but it’d be out of genuine curiosity, and not from a bad place. Then he’d be like ‘ok- so do we need to find you a boyfriend? Because I bet I can get you one really fast!’ just to show how supportive he is.

He’s always ALWAYS been Harry’s man through and through, and this would be no different.

Ron would definitely be the super-supportive but awkward friend who’s confused about what to say.

“The silver doe was nothing, nothing compared with Ron’s reappearance, he could not believe it. Shuddering with cold, he caught up the pile of clothes still lying at the water’s edge and began to pull them on. As he dragged sweater after sweater over his head, Harry stared at Ron, half expecting him to have disappeared every time he lost sight of him, and yet he had to be real: he had just dived into the pool, he had saved Harry’s life.”
