So partially I’m joking here.

And partially I’m definitely sure that if you asked Ron, he would identify as straight. Ron grew up in the ‘90s, entered a fulfilling long-term monogamous relationship with an opposite-sex partner as a very young man, and doesn’t appear to experience more than incidental same-sex attraction. (Whether he actually had a crush on Krum is actually questionable, but I’m easily bored by 100% straight people.)

As for kissing Harry in the Forest of Dean, the entire reunion in The Silver Doe is structured like the dramatic reunion of the romantic leads. The Hero and Heroine [Harry is probably the heroine in this scenario], separated by rash action, unkind words, and cruel fate, come back together as the Hero swoops in, saves the Heroine, and accomplishes a Major Quest. A Romance-affirming kiss ensues. Except that Ron and Harry are platonic rather than romantic soulmates, so they have the Iconic Hug instead.

I love how this shows their friendship. Like the subtle nudge of Ron behind the globe- brotastic. Good acting moment for both

Rupert and Dan had such a great dynamic in the films; shame it wasn’t used more.

Ron: (mid-jump onto the top bunk) you like ginger newts?

*top bunk breaks, detaches, and lands onto the bottom bunk*
