Call me a soppy old romantic, but I love that scene in a movie where the couple start dancing and finally realise how they really feel about each other.
Yep^^^
This made me giggle
I would have added Ron and Hermione dancing at Bill and Fleur’s wedding, but someone decided to cut it out of the films…
They probably haven’t read the books or let themselves be influenced by movies or fan fiction. People always forget what happened in the books but remember these stupid details that never happened:
1) Ron making Hermione cry on the stairs during the Yule Ball. Sorry to disappoint the Anti Rom crew but that NEVER happened.
2) Malfoy tearing a page off a book in CoS and that being related to the piece of paper (regarding the Chamber of Secrets) in Harmione’s hands. Even by movie standards, that makes no sense. Stop thinking that it’s blasphemy if she damages a book. Hermione has no problem breaking school rules for her own advantage (attacking Ron, confunding McLaggen, Dumbledore’s Army, etc.)
3) Ron screaming, “Your parents are dead! You have no family!” Fuck 👏 you 👏 Steve 👏 Kloves 👏
4) Hermione getting the M*dblood scar. (And people forget about Ron’s brain scars!)
5) Hermione and Harry dancing. I love me some platonic love, but the filmmakers, or Harmonians if I may use a more appropriate term, COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT. Harry has NO IDEA how to deal with Hermione’s emotions. He’s not emotionally receptive to her feelings. During that painful time, he never attempted to comfort her and both of them spent days without speaking to each other. He would not have danced with her in order to make her feel better. (Also, how dare they forget that Ron danced with Hermione? How dare they take Ron’s dance and give it to Harry? Bad Steve Kloves! And bad David Yates too! You wanted to add Krumione as well, didn’t you, you nasty Ron hater? But you couldn’t add the part when Ron told Hermione how great she looked?! Fuck you too!)
6) The whole Crooshanks VS. Scabbers fight. The fight was NOT about Ron being paranoid, and Hermione scowling while protectively hugging her cat in her arms. In the books, the fight was about Hermione letting Crooshanks roam around when Scabbers was out. The fight was about Hermione dismissing Ron’s feelings when he asked her to restrain her cat, because the cat was after Scabbers (and he happened to be right. sure, crooks was after him for a completely different reason but yeah.) Hermione ignored Ron’s pleas and worries, and dismissed them with a simple, “Cats chase rats, Ron!” Hermione refused to apologise when all Ron needed was an apology, for them to become friends again. Don’t get me wrong- Ron was also petty when he made the comment about Scabbers enjoying the feasts (which made Hermione burst into tears.) But their fight was not about Ron being the bad guy, and Hermione the sweet victim. Hermione was just as insensitive (if not more) during the situation.
7) Luna saving Harry in the Hogwarts Express. Look, I love Luna, and I adore her friendship with Harry (more than the cursed Harmione friendship) but that never happened, okay? The whole thing with her glasses being able to detect Harry when he was covered with the cloak was just bullshit (not surprising coming from a screenwriter who didn’t even know how memory charms worked. “obliviate” is only supposed to erase memories, jackass. not photographs.) Tonks saved Harry. Not Luna. Tonks! My Hufflepuff Queen deserves more appreciation, but heck, I’ll be surprised if Kloves even remembers who Tonks is. He could’ve used Luna’s Quidditch commentary, and utilised the Ron/Luna friendship to give Evanna screentime, but I suppose he can’t help but sacrifice a character while promoting another.
Anyway, I went off-topic, but thank you for releasing this rant 🙂
I would have loved to see Evanna Lynch doing Luna’s Quidditch commentary. They could have easily used Tonks in the train scene, and used Luna later on. More Ron and Luna BROTP moments, please! And I’m not just saying that because Rupert and Evanna are my HP crushes, and I love seeing them on screen together (okay, it’s a little bit of that…).
