Daniel: I read the fourth book as we started the first film and the Yule Ball and me and Ron like I remember just reading and being like oh my god were wearing dresses!? what
Rupert: I met this drag queen and ended up going back to her little flat with all her drag queen friends. We went to get bangles at like four am I was in like full heels and feather bower
it’s like character development in real life
It’s a sad indictment of the scripts of the Harry Potter film series that Daniel Radcliffe, Bonnie Wright and Rupert Grint act more like Harry, Ginny and Ron in their everyday lives than they did in the films.
Can Lunarry/Huna shippers please reblog this post, so we can all find each-other?
So I was all for them being platonic friends (except for when I’m shipping Harry x Luna x Ginny because they just work together) and then I rewatched the movies. Their conversations with the thestrals and overall just cuteness! When I read the books the last time, I felt like Harry was a little condescending towards Luna. Like they patronized her and just pretended to believe her. But they were so cute in the movies! I think they’d be much better than movie Ginny x Harry. (Their relationship always seemed a little rushed to me. I feel like J.K. could have fleshed it out a bit more, laid down a bread crumb trail for us to follow until we landed in a clearing with them together as a couple and it just made sense (kind of how she did with Ron and Hermione))
I love Harry x Luna x Ginny as well! I think they all balance each-other out really well- it’s one of my favourite poly ships.
Oh yeah- the movies (especially OOTP) really played up how good their relationship was. Maybe it was something to do with Daniel Radcliffe and Evanna Lynch having such a good rapport with each-other. Apparently, both actors thought that their characters would end up together.
And you can see their point. I honestly spent most of this film thinking ‘I’m pretty sure Harry fancies Luna rather than Cho…’
I think the film-makers spent most of the early films not doing much with Ginny, and then tried to overcompensate when HBP came out, and they realised Harry would end up with Ginny. It was too much of a shift to make it seem believable, since film!Harry barely talked to Ginny before the sixth film. I think he had an average of two lines speaking to her, compared to the books where he was often talking to her. At least with Ron and Hermione, they had some time to develop it (even if they took away most of Ron’s greatest moments and gave them to Hermione).
