If Evanna Lynch ever poses nude or semi-nude (or has a nude scene in a movie), I expect that it will be very classy and artsy and not degrading in any way. She does seem to enjoy stepping outside of her comfort zone, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen in the future. And at the risk of sounding pervy (I’m a girl, btw), she is quite beautiful, so I do think it would be rather pleasant to look at.

If you say so. I’d probably pass out if that ever happened (she is beautiful after all, like you said). But it is true that it would be done very tastefully if it ever did happen. Evanna Lynch is a good actor with a firm understanding of her own mind, so I hope that she wouldn’t be forced into doing something she wasn’t comfortable.

Tagging in @justsaya and @gaylittlepieceofsh1t for their own thoughts on the matter. Please keep your responses tasteful, of course.

Thanks for the message, anon.

I feel that nude photography like any form of photography can be crass or tasteful but in the end I feel it’s Evanna’s decision on how she wants her body to be out there.

If in a movie the scene can be degrading too depending upon who she is playing and she shouldn’t be judged for that because she is not her characters. Although she IS Luna Lovegood.

I adore Evanna and I feel that her body shouldn’t be speculated on too much.

Agree with you on that @gaylittlepieceofsh1t. There is a fine line between artistic “tasteful” nudity and flat-out exploitative nudity that only seeks to gain attention for the movie/tv show/project (although that’s hardly the female actor’s fault). Female actors have to deal with their bodies being judged just as much (if not more so) than their acting, which is incredibly sexist.

@justsaya Fair point. It’s not my really my thing (what with me being on the ace spectrum and all), but fair enough I suppose.

*tosses in my quid*

With the new paradigm of filming (with having additional consultants on-set now making sure the actresses are taken care of in all ways) I doubt there will be a need for it to happen – but if it does happen, I’d think she has the backbone (and empowerment) to put her foot down if it’s anything except tasteful and truly artistic.

I’m not chuffed either way (even if I do think most film nudity is exploitative and for the male gaze.) It’s a rarity that you have an actual scene that needs nudity.

Women in a houndstooth suit and tie? Yes please.

Agreeing with @diva-gonzo on this. The vast majority of films don’t need nudity. If it’s Evanna Lynch’s choice, then fair enough to her. Although I wouldn’t watch it because I get squicky about seeing actors like that.

Now, Evanna Lynch wearing a hounds-tooth suit and tie, or (like diva mentioned in their tags) a mens long white dress shirt? That would be amazing.

(Also, I apologise if my original post came across as a little pervy. That was never my intention, and I apologise if it creeped anyone out).

Is Emma Watson running
out of goodwill in the HP fandom?

Lately, I’ve noticed on
Tumblr that the HP fandom has begun to lose patience with Emma Watson. There
are fans more vocal about their lack of enthusiasm for her acting (I, myself,
will admit to this), as well as a growing collective-feeling that her portrayal
of Hermione Granger left a lot to be desired. There is also the question of how
she plays into the Kloves-and-Rowling-approved idea of “Hermione is brilliant
at everything”, which has been the dominant form of discourse surrounding the
character for the better part of the last decade.

Even from blogs who
like her, her career in the past few years has been referred to as
“plummeting”, and Potterheads seem to be far less forgiving of her faults than
they were previously. I don’t mean on a personal level (I’m sure she’s
perfectly lovely IRL), but towards her attitude about the character that made
her famous in the first place. Can Hermione really be considered as perfect as
this fandom (and, by extension, Emma herself) have put the character up to be?
And, if not, will this changing attitude towards the character affect our view
of the actor who played her?

As a fandom, we seem to
have reached an impasse. What would have previously considered unthinkable is rapidly becoming a topic
of discourse. If JK Rowling could be collectively divorced by her own fandom,
then could the same thing happen to an actor previously-adored by Potterheads?

So, lovely people, my
question to you: has Emma Watson’s goodwill
in the HP fandom (gained from playing Hermione Granger for almost a decade) finally
begun to run dry?
