Do you see Romione and Peraltiago as very similar? I saw a post about how Peraltiago is like a grownup, non-magic Romione and mostly agreed. What do you think are the main things they have in common and their main differences?

Oh, no, I don’t. 

Jake is funny, a bit irresponsible, loyal, kind, smart but not in a obvious way. Ron is funny, loyal, a bit immature, strategic. 

Amy is smart, responsible, a perfectionist and loves reading. Hermione is sharp, well-read, intelligent, responsible, capable. 

I can see how Jake/Ron and Amy/Hermione have similar personalities, and how Jake/Amy and Ron/Hermione have similar dynamics. 

However, while Amy is kind, compassionate, open-minded, warm, and a good rule-follower, Hermione is cunning, often lacks empathy, and can be aggressive, closed-minded and mean. 

I think Hermione sometimes disrespected and belittled Ron, but Amy and Jake have an extremely respectful and supportive relationship. It’s not that Ron and Hermione don’t respect and support each other, but their bickering could turn nasty and intense pretty fast. 

Hermione and Ron were also terrible at communicating their feelings, while Jake and Amy managed much better. 

Naturally, Hermione and Ron were teenagers so I can cut them some slack. Still, Jake and Amy have a sweet, relaxed and companionable dynamic that Ron and Hermione never had in the books. 

Peraltiago is by far the superior ship. I don’t really like to think of them as similar, tbh. But I can’t say they aren’t.

I don’t watch B99 (don’t kill me) but I’ve seen a lot of Romione shippers compare it to Jake/Amy.

Thoughts?

It’s similar in the broad respect of ‘nerdy girl and funny guy’, but the similarities disappear when you get down to the nitty-gritty. Amy is far nicer to Jake than Hermione is to Ron, and the former’s relationship is a lot easier, with far less unpleasantness. Like OP says, Jake and Amy are both adults; they’re not teenagers struggling with emerging feelings for their best friend, like Ron and Hermione are. 

Also, I’m pretty sure Amy never physically attacked Jake. 

Jake x Amy is similar to how I’d like Ron x Hermione to be; a supportive, caring relationship based on mutual respect. If anything, it’s what Ron x Hermione could have been if JK Rowling hadn’t been so biased towards Hermione and used Ron as the butt-monkey for the HP series. 

That’s just my two cents on the matter, though. 

Idk if you watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine but Jake and Amy are more like book Ron and Hermione than the film ever was! I hate the fact that the film erased all of Hermione’s flaws and all of Ron’s good attributes. They were both flawed but good individuals who balanced each other well and the films ruined it

I’ve never wat hed that show. But I’ve heard that being said about those people many times and have seen them in memes. Imma have to check that out.

Jake and Amy are SO much like book Ron and Hermione!

You know you ship Romione hardcore when you ship couples in other fandoms because they remind you of Ron and Hermione. 

I do this with Jake and Amy from ‘B99′, and Steven and Connie from ‘Steven Universe’ (although neither Amy nor Connie set flocks of birds on their respective romantic partners/crushes).
