Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, chapter six ‘Talons and Tea leaves’;
“Professor Trelawney
continued placidly ‘We will be covering the basic methods of Divination this
year. The first term will be devoted to reading the tea leaves. Next term we
will progress to palmistry. By the way,
my dear,’ she shot suddenly at Parvati Patil, ‘beware a red-headed man.’Parvati gave a startled look at Ron, who was right
behind her, and edged her chair away from him.”
Since Ron was thirteen
at this point, ‘man’ seems like an incorrect description, meaning that this was
about something that happened years into the future.
To the best of my
knowledge, I can’t remember any time Ron did anything especially mean to
Parvati. Maybe Parvati had a crush on Lavender, and Ron would later be dating
Lavender, so it could be that.
Either that, or this
was just another of Trelawney’s incorrect predictions, like what she said that Neville
should be worried about his grandmother’s health.
If Trelawney had made
the prediction to Lavender, then this would have made more sense. But I don’t
think JK Rowling had even envisioned that plot line when she was writing POA.
