a Linny AU where basketball-star!Ginny meets florist!Luna whilst searching for roses for Ron and Hermione’s wedding. 

One, yes please, but two, the place my brain immediately went was:

Luna is a florist with a PhD in botany and a theory about the Language of Flowers and the insights it provides into prehistoric extraterrestrial contact. Chapter 1 is the wedding. Chapters 2 – 27 are a paranormal spy thriller in which Luna should be *much* more phased by all of this and Ginny isn’t sure who you people are but nobody’s going to mess with her girlfriend.

Ron and Harry work for the non-secret part of whatever government agency is in charge of hunting down aliens. “Ginny, what are you talking about, there is no division 319.”

Hermione is a historian who can help them with their research if she can be persuaded that there really *were* prehistoric aliens.

I was gonna say Neville is Luna’s friend from grad school who abandoned fringe theories for academic respectability a la Ghostbusters 2016, but that doesn’t fit Neville’s character at all, so I’m gonna have to keep working on that one.

Neville is Luna’s supplier and frequently comes into the flower shop even when he’s not making deliveries, because he likes to see how the plants are getting on. He’s super nervous around strangers, and so for the first few chapters he comes across as just this bumbling comic relief idiot who’s always knocking over seed trays and watering cans whenever Ginny tries to talk to him.

Then Ginny and Luna’s investigation leads them to a very rare, almost extinct species of plant— and Luna knows someone who just might have a specimen.

Turns out Neville is actually one of the number one experts on botany in Europe, and has been responsible for the creation of several new breeds and the preservation of many endangered species.

And, as a matter of fact, he did have a specimen of the species you’re looking for, until just last night, when some mysterious men in black broke in, smashed up his greenhouse and stole some of his most valuable plants. The whole experience absolutely terrified him— but he’d still definitely be willing to help in any way he can if it means bringing those people down.
