ginny and luna as girlfriends & fwb at hogwarts because i just can’t help myself:
- luna goes to all ginny’s quidditch teams, lion hat on her head, and makes it roar so loud every time ginny scores a goal. ginny blows kisses & winks to luna before every match, it makes her feel lucky
- luna’s in all sorts of fringe clubs and organizations too. ginny goes to all of luna’s matches/premieres/etc and cheers as enthusiastically for her gf at this little club as any student does for a quidditch match
- ginny even makes a little ravenclaw hat for luna’s games, though ginny’s not great at art and she gets really frustrated when her projects go wrong. it’s smaller than the lion hat but it has wings that flap and the eagle noise is super realistic, and luna appreciates the effort so much (she cried when she first saw it). everyone else is very much like, “…..what the fuck?” but who cares
- luna spends her holidays running around the world searching for mythical creatures, she invites her father and her girl. ginny surpresses her percy-like inclination to denounce it all, and throws herself determinedly into the adventure – they never find a snorkack or humdinger but they do discover a few old artifacts………..luna’s convinced they have Powers. ginny humors her.
- ginny winning quidditch matches and throwing herself, windswept and sweating and exhilarated, into her gf’s arms in front of everybody
- luna sometimes cheers against ravenclaw in gryffindor/ravenclaw matches. her housemates are used to how doe-eyed ginny makes her by now though.
- luna gets ginny, stubborn and set in her ways as she is, to try all sorts of concoctions in the kitchen when ginny visits her on holiday. most of them are pretty good, to everyone’s surprise.
- speaking of them on holiday: endless sunny days strolling the streets/fields around the burrow and the rook, soaking up the nature, telling each other stories – some true, some fabricated…..ginny enchants the flower petals caught in the wind to dance around them; luna threads daisies into both their braids.
- meeting the family!!!! some of the weasleys are confused about luna, but they think shes sweet and funny and lovely. xenophilius thinks ginny’s hard-headed but brave, and he loves how she dotes on luna and looks at her with stars in her eyes.
- ginny sneaks out of the tower most nights, she and luna take moonlit walks around the dark grounds, hand in hand (it doesnt matter that ginny’s failing astronomy and most of luna’s mythology is made up)
credit to @ginnnyweasleys for coming up with these with me :))) iconic sport gay and art gay girlfriends for life!
Ginny calls Luna her moon goddess I will figth you on this
luna and ginny are voted ‘best couple’ in hogwarts five years running
So, what’s your type?
Ginny Weasley: Dark-haired guys with glasses, and dirty-blonde ethereal girls. There is no inbetween.
Luna Lovegood: Anyone with a good heart, and a kind personality. Other than that, I’d have to say ‘red-headed girls with freckles’ and ‘messy-haired bespectacled boys’.
Hermione Granger: Ron Weasley.
The Weasley family’s reactions to Ginny dating Luna
Mr Weasley: (shakes Luna’s hand, grinning)
Mrs Weasley: (starts crying happily, gives both girls big hugs, organises a massive party to celebrate)
Bill: Fist-bumps both girls. Buys the couple a pair of matching earrings.
Charlie: Hugs both girls. Launches into a long conversation with Luna about dragon that bores everyone-else to death.
Percy: Is very awkward, but shakes both girls’ hands. Goes to write a report on getting same-sex marriage legalised in Wizarding Britain.
Fred and George: Both clap Ginny on the back. Give Ginny the older-brother, because ‘Luna is wonderful and we must protect her’.
Ron: He is the OG Linny shipper, and basically set them up in the first place. He spent the day crying happily into a borrowed handkerchief of Hermione’s. Both Ginny and Luna gave him big ‘thank you’ hugs.
Not Prepared, or Are You?
Ginny has heard the gossip about Loony Lovegood, but that really hasn’t prepared her for actually meeting the girl. Nor for the feelings that will come.

During the first two years of school, Ginny heard the stories of Loony Lovegood. It was impossible not to hear them and a new one always seemed to pop up every month or two. Ginny heard about how the girl believed in made-up creatures and weird tales. Another story going around was about how Luna had fallen asleep in class only to scream “The Nargles are coming to get me” when she woke up. And every time Ginny heard that story, the girl screamed something even weirder.
So when she did meet Luna, she was not prepared.
It was halfway through the second year. Ginny was walking through the hallway when she saw it. Three people gathering around a girl. Her feet uncontrollably dancing without the rest of her body. Ginny could see how the girl was trying to appear strong, but couldn’t keep the tears out of her eyes.
She had to defend the girl so Ginny held her wand up high and cast the Bat-Bogey Hex. The blond girl’s tormentors turning to Ginny as giants bats flew out of their noses and attacked them.
“Do something!” One of the girls screamed at a boy.
LOVE THIS! So sweet and cute!
Okay, unsuccessful in suppressing the urge to spam asks. Fandom asks again, would you do Linny for category 002 and Ginny for 003?
Hi! No, it’s okay. I don’t mind. But I hope you don’t mind me taking my time while answering these 🙂
002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:
LINNY
when or if I started shipping it: Just recently tbh.
my thoughts/what makes me happy about them:
They have good potential. In canon, Luna likes Ginny very much and talks about how nice she is, while Ginny would happily destroy anyone who says mean things about Luna. They are such a pure, fluffy ship. I love the idea of Ginny ranting about things that piss her off, and Luna happily listening to her rants. In return, Luna talking about her theories and Ginny genuinely listening to her, and treating her with respect. I believe that Luna can bring out the blushing, sweet, and soft side of the normally fiery, sarcastic and stubborn Ginny Weasley. I also like the idea of Luna becoming fierce, and more confident, while spending time with Ginny. There’s a lot they can learn from each other.
What makes me sad about them: It makes me sad but I have to mention that Luna/Ginny being BFFs is entirely fanon. Ginny does call people out for bullying Luna, and Luna likes Ginny very much. However, if they spent a lot of time together, I’m sure Luna wouldn’t say things like, “It’s been lonely without the D.A” or “I liked the meetings. It was like having friends.” I do love the idea of them being best friends, but let’s not give Rowling credit when she doesn’t deserve it.
Things done in fanfic that annoy me: Sometimes, people tend to make Luna look foolish, and I dislike that. She’s not an idiot. Stop treating her like one.
Things I look for in fanfic: I’m not very picky about Linny fan fics, but I do prefer fluffy ones.
My kinks: n/a
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Luna? Happiness. Ginny? Harry of course!
My happily ever after for them: I would love the idea of them being a couple (with Harry in the picture of course), but I hope they are best friends, even if they don’t end up together.
003 | Give me a character & I will tell you
GINNY WEASLEY
How I feel about this character: I like Ginny. She is the queen of the Underdogs. She’s popular, pretty, and athletic and she’s allowed to be all those things. She also has a temper, can destroy you with her words, can be insensitive and has a big mouth. However, I do think that she was tilting towards Sue-dom in HBP, but not enough for me to start disliking her (thank goodness!) Copy pasting this from another post but I’m very protective of her because in my experience, I’ve seen a lot of shit thrown in her way from the militant shippers and movie fans. I’m the first in line to defend her from people who call her a Mary Sue or a fangirl. I would launch myself at anyone who dares to say that she’s unworthy of Harry Potter. I’m ready to explode if anyone accuses her of using a love potion, of being an adulterer or abusive wife or whatever crap they’ve recently added to the “Crappy Theories We Have Created About Ginny Weasley Because We Are Bitter That Our Garbage Ship Is Not Canon” list. (Sorry, I don’t keep track.)
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Harry Freakin’ Potter, and Luna Freakin’ Lovegood.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: Ginny/Neville.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I think she deserved to be called out in HBP for talking shit about Ron making out with Muriel’s photograph.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish we could’ve seen more of her hobbies/interests apart from Quidditch and being a smart-mouth.
My OTP: Ginny/Harry
My OT3: Luna/Ginny/Harry. Where both Luna and Harry are in love with Ginny.
Thanks for the ask! 🙂
YAY! Another Linny shipper!
Luna: I’ve got something I’ve been wanting to get off my chest for a while…
Ginny: what is it? You can trust me.
Inner Ginny: please be your shirt, please be your shirt, please be your shirt!
*Trying not to giggle immaturely*
Oh! I’d love to see Ginny x Luna with #37 please ☺️ ty
Luna always seemed to know where she needed to be. She felt it the moment she was supposed to help. It was like a tiny push in the right direction.
Ginny was curled up on their bed, wearing one of Fred’s worn out t-shirts. She wasn’t crying, but it was only through willpower alone. When Luna crossed the room toward her, Ginny pulled her knees tighter up to her chest, one arm hugging her legs and the other under her pillow.
“Wanna dance?” Luna asked.
Ginny squeezed her eyes closed. “There isn’t any music.”
It wasn’t a strange way to answer such an out of place question, but Ginny sounded so detached. Luna reached over to Ginny, brushing her hair out of her face. Once she tucked the strands behind Ginny’s ear, she backed away and asked again.
“Will you dance with me?”
Ginny sobbed; she was hugging herself too tightly to get enough air, “There’s no music.”
“No, there isn’t,” Luna said. She stayed back, out of Ginny’s space but didn’t leave. She had all the patience in the world when it came to Ginny. Luna understood grief; she also knew when grief was pressing in too close.
A minute later, Ginny pulled herself up. Looking at Luna with red-rimmed eyes, she nodded. Luna took her by the hands and pulled her to the middle of the room. They held each other close and swayed softly. It was less of a dance and more of a hug in motion, but they kept on moving, arms around one another, Ginny’s head resting on Luna’s shoulder.
“Thank you,” Ginny whispered.
Luna answered her with a kiss to the top of her head, and they kept right on dancing.
