My opinions of HP ships

(Oooh, this is gonna
get me so much hate. Apologies to
anyone who doesn’t agree with me. It’s just my own personal opinions on ships.
I apologise if I leave any ships out.)

Ron x Hermione (Romione): My OTP. The good ship. The greatest and the
mightiest. They complement each other so well, and have such a great build-up (they have a PINING ERA, for goodness’ sake…).
Having said that, I’m definitely more here for Ron than I am for Hermione.
Sometimes, she can be infuriating to read about. But hey, that’s to be expected
when she’s the author’s self-insert. I’m just happy that she makes Ron happy; I
don’t know why she does, but I’m
happy she does nonetheless. I’m grateful that Ronald Bilius Weasley is finally
content; even if it is with the
irritable know-it-all with violent sociopathic tendencies.

Harry x Ginny (Hinny): It’s cool. No real opinion either way. They make
each-other happy, and that’s good enough for me.

Dean x Seamus (Deamus): Does anyone not ship this at least a little? I
think it’s sweet. No problems here.

Luna x Harry (Lunarry/Huna): Quite possibly one of my favourite non-canon ships.
If Harry didn’t end up with Ginny, I would have thought Luna would have been
the best bet. Like Ron and Hermione, they complement each-other so well, and
such a sweet, caring relationship.

Luna x Ginny (Linny): YES! Luna and Ginny would be awesome! I even ship
Harry x Ginny x Luna as a poly relationship (which I call Linuarry).

Luna and Neville (Nuna): I always just saw them as friends, but I have no
real problems with this. It’s cute, and it’s based on mutual respect and love.
No complaints.

Remus x Sirius (Wolfstar): I like it, but it’s such a tragic ship. I once
wrote a fluff fanfic about them, and most of the comments were just ‘I love how
little angst is in this fic compared to other fics about the pair’.  We need more fluffy goodness about these two.

Remus x Nymphadora Tonks (Ronks): I like this pairing. They work well off each-other.
But, like Wolfstar, it’s so tragic and angsty. Also, there’s a shipping war
going on between Ronks fans and Wolfstar fans, which I don’t like. Can we please stop dissing Tonks already?

Hermione x Harry (Harmione/Harmony): Ew. They’re basically brother and sister, and their
personalities don’t mesh well at all. Having said that, on its own, the ship is
fairly harmless (they have a caring canon relationship), but a small minority
of the shippers are incredibly unpleasant. Not to mention the incessant
Weasley-bashing that apparently goes on in this ships fandom. The films didn’t
help.

Harry x Ron (Rarry/Harron): Cute. I’m all for Ron getting some love from people
who care about him. And Harry did consider Ron to be ‘the person he would miss
most’. As long as Hermione and Ginny aren’t bashed, I have no problems with
this ship. I actually really like the idea of Harry falling for Ron in the
post-war period, and then having a poly relationship (but without Harry and
Hermione dating; they both just really fancy Ron).

Hermione
x Ginny (Ginmione): Not really my cup of tea. Not terrible, but I find it
difficult to split up Ron and Hermione.

Hermione x Viktor Krum (Krumione): Ditto what I said about Ginmione. Expect the age
gap with Krumione is a little creepy.

Fred x Hermione (Fremione): Another ship that is tragic. I imagine that people
who ship this tend to cry a lot. Same opinion that I had with Ginmione; not
terrible in theory, but not my thing.

Hermione x Draco (Dramione): He wished death upon her repeatedly, and treated
her as less of a person based on her heritage. I don’t see how they could
become a couple. I personally think this ship became popular because Emma
Watson had a childhood crush on Tom Felton.

Hermione x Pansy (Pansmione): Why does this
fandom like shipping Hermione with literally everyone else? Pansy bullied
her repeatedly. So no.

Hermione x Snape (Snamione): This is wrong on so many levels.

Hermione x Tom Riddle (Tomione): What is wrong with this fandom?

Bellatrix Lestrange x Hermione (Bellamione): Seriously, outside of AU settings, how is this not
incredibly disturbing?

Ron x Luna (Lurron/Runa): Finally, a
ship that doesn’t make me want to vomit. Cute, and Luna probably did have a crush on Ron when she first
met him. I actually think this makes more sense than Ron’s brief relationship
with Lavender. Speaking of which…

Ron x Lavender (Ravender): JK Rowling really didn’t do a good job with this.
Lavender isn’t a bad character per-say, but Rowling definitely made her seem
worse than she actually was just so readers wouldn’t feel that sorry for her
when she and Ron broke up. I’m a Romione shipper, and I still Lavender was
treated unfairly by the author. Also, the way JK Rowling treated her as the
‘other woman’ and coded her as bad-for-being-traditionally-feminine was
seriously messed up. I don’t ship this at all, but I like it in fanfics where
Lavender calls Hermione (and, by extension, JK Rowling) out on her messed-up
behaviour regarding Ron.

Draco x Harry (Drarry): I used to not-mind it. Now, I’m not so keen. Draco
Malfoy’s personality really has to do a 180 before I can accept this anymore.
Also, the whole ‘he’s only mean to you because he likes you’ thing is toxic.

Harry x Severus Snape (Snarry): NO. Just… no.

Draco x Ginny (Drinny): I didn’t even realise this was a thing until @weasleyismyking540 started posting about it. Not really my thing, but no
serious opinion on it.

Draco x Ron (Dron): Again, I don’t like splitting Ron and Hermione up,
but this seems less harmful than Draco x Hermione because Draco didn’t regard
Ron as less-than-human like Draco did with Hermione. Not a big fan.

Poppy Pomfrey x Minerva McGonagall (McPop, as
suggested by @anniemay-af here): I don’t usually ship Hogwarts staff together, but I
can kinda see this working. And it’s nice to see these two usually-serious
people having a laugh with each-other.

Molly x Arthur (I don’t know the ship name): Yes. Duh. They fit so well together.

James x Lily (Jily): Same again here. I like how their personalities mesh.

Severus Snape x Lily (Snily): How about noooooo…..

Rose x Scorpius (Scorose/Rosius): Seems a bit obvious. Also, the whole ‘Rose in a
stand-in for Hermione, and Scorpius for Draco’ thing really makes me
uncomfortable. And you already know my opinion on Dramione.

Albus x Scorpius (Scorbus): Cute. They’re best friends who fall in love; that’s
a big plus for me.

Okay so I’m personal a HUGE drarry shipper, I think there dynamic would be amazing and that they would complement each other well but I know that ‘realistically’ there was absolutely no way of the happening in the hp series BUT I also I think that Harry x Luna would’ve been a great pairings with 10x the chemistry of Harry x Ginny. Harry is very hot head and can sometimes be aggressive whereas Luna is very Pacific and calm and they would balance each other out VERY nicely. 2/2 lmao

I don’t really ship Drarry anymore (I kinda lost interest in it after a while, and I find it to be a little too much in the ‘he only bullies you because he likes you’ trope which I have a lot of problems with), but fair play to you. 

Oh yeah, I love the Luna x Harry ship. I don’t mind Harry x Ginny, but I do think Luna and Harry had a more balanced relationship due to their personalities and world-views balancing each-other out. 

I actually quite like the idea of Luna x Harry x Ginny, a poly-ship where they’re all dating each-other. That way, no-one gets left out.

Book!Hermione would be staring suspiciously at film!Hermione, wondering why her bushy hair is non-existent, and getting irritated that she doesn’t have any real flaws (’you’re weren’t even socially awkward? That doesn’t seem…right’).

Meanwhile, film!Ron would be crying into book!Ron’s shoulder, sobbing about ‘how sorry he is’. Book!Ron would be softly patting his back, and whispering ‘it’s fine, it’s okay, it wasn’t your fault’. 

Holy shit this is brilliant and I need more please!!

You danced with Viktor and Harry, but NOT Ron? What is wrong with you?’). Film!Hermione is feeling very confused about the way book!Hermione and book!Ron are bickering, because BOTH of them are being idiotic about it (and not just Ron). 

Book!Ron is now talking about the cool stuff he got to do, because film!Ron is so happy that ONE of them didn’t get turned into a comedy sidekick. (Book!Ron is now pleading with book!Hermione that they let film!Ron stay at their place, because ‘the poor bloke has been through so much! He deserves a bit of happiness after all the cr*p Kloves put him through!’)

Book!Hermione is now arguing with film!Hermione about why she’s acting as if she was in the right with the ‘Lavender’ situation in sixth year. (’Me and Ron were both being idiots! We set a flock of birds on him for goodness’ sake; we are not the innocent party here!’) 

Book!Ron is now telling film!Ron jokes and funny stories about the golden trio to cheer him up, and is making sure the poor guy has some chocolate to eat. (’No way, Hermione blushed pink when you absentmindedly told her you loved her? That’s so adorable! Merlin, you two are so cute together!’).

a point of contention.

They get along like a
house on fire. They actually organised an expedition to find Nargles next
summer. Although book!Luna was a little surprised by how much not-quite-just-platonic
moments film!Luna was given with Harry in OOTP.

@headcanonsandmore Yes! It’s perfect and I knew I wasn’t crazy when I saw the Huna scenes in OotP! It’s like they were purposefully hinting at something more than friendship

@smarklepotter I KNOW, RIGHT! OOTP was shipping them so hard!  

I didn’t even consider these two together until I saw this film. Spend most of the run-time thinking ‘okay, I don’t Cho is the Ravenclaw girl that Harry likes…’ 

Luna and Harry would have been so cute, especially considering that the two actors had so much chemistry together.  Dan and Evanna both thought Luna and Harry were gonna end up together in the films. Can’t say I blame them, considering all the not-just-platonic moments they were given together. 

Aaaand then Steve Kloves came back to write HBP,  pushed more Harmione-baiting scenes into the script and used Luna as a punchline for Harry’s “someone cool” line. Yay….

I hate how the Harry Potter films change Ginny into just a love interest. I hate how they completely dimolish the beautiful otp. I hate the awkawrd scenes and the awkawrd flirting “shoelace”??????????????. I hate how they changed their first kiss. But the thing i hate most about it all is how Harry doesn’t tell Ron face to face ; how we really never see Ron himself say he’s okay with it how we don’t get RoN’S NOD OF APPROVAL BECAUSE WE NEVER GOT THE KISS IN THE COMMON ROOM I WILL HONESTLY KILL STEVE KOLVES IN HIS SLEEP I AM NOT OKAY

They destroyed her personality completely, and gave them almost no screen time together at all. They had NO understanding of their relationship at all, the dynamics there, and did nothing to build their relationship at all.

Movie 5 needed their friendship built up in order for movie 6 to house their relationship, if you stick to the books. If they were going to veer off, they needed to do a HELLUVA lot more to have Ginny developed- but they instead chose to focus on Hermione. Luna (I love her, but they focused on her more than was necessary given her role in that book/film), and even Ron/Lavender more than anything Harry/Ginny. Then added stupid 10 minute long BS like the burning down of the burrow- when that time could have been spent developing their relationship, that they ignored movies 1-5. I’m just… I’m SO mad.

As a Lunarry shipper, I kind-of like how many scenes she was given with Harry in OOTP. But I also think Ginny’s relationship with Harry should have been built-up properly before HBP. The film-makers knew what was happening in the books (as they’d all been released by that point), so they should have made efforts to establish Harry and Ginny’s pre-romance relationship. 

You’re aware that not all Hinny haters are Harmonians, right? Some just think Ginny could do better than the likes of Harry.

Probably The-Amazing-Bouncing-Ferret. Sure, Harry has his flaws (all of JKR’s characters do) but it amazes me that some people think that Draco-The-Wonder-Racist would somehow be better. Have they even read the books?

I don’t mind Hinny. It’s not really a major ship of mine. I haven’t got much of an opinion either-way on Drinny (otherwise @weasleyismyking540 would probably be quite upset with me), but you know who I do think would have been a good partner for Ginny if Harry was out of the question? 

@ronandhappiness No, I do ship Hinny. But they’re not a big ship of mine. Having said that, I do like them in a poly ship with Luna (which I call Linuarry).
