The only thing I enjoy about the HP movies is how cuddly Ron is.

I headcanon Ron as the kind of person who just loves hugs and cuddles and is always awaiting with open arms if you ever need a literal shoulder to cry on.

So seeing him attack-hug Harry in DH1 before the Seven Potters scene just makes me so happy

And then I remember the Locket’s destruction and how the actual, book-canon hug between Harry and Ron was never filmed

And then I remember that ridiculous scene where Harry tells his friends he’s going to die and Hermma Granston cries and hugs Harry dramatically while Ron just… looks on stoically like he’s not the most emotional boy to ever boy

Which makes me remember why I hate those freaking movies in the first place

Steve Kloves really didn’t know how to characterise Ron in a consistent way. One minute he’s cuddly (maybe it was improvised by Rupert Grint, and they left it in), but in important emotional scenes, he’s detached. Makes no sense.

Kloves was of his Harmione fanfiction he must have scripted in a “safe distance” of minimum 5 feet whenever Harry was on-screen with a character that wasn’t Hermione lol

Absolutely, and I commend Rupert for it. Poor bloke deserved to play Ron the way the character was in the books. It wasn’t his fault that Kloves hated the character. 

You know, that ‘keeping a safe distance’ thing would explain a lot about the way certain scenes were done. Like with that bit in POA when Harry’s crying in the snowy clearing, or when Hermione hugs Harry in DH but Ron doesn’t.
