I honestly dont understand. Like how? What did he do to make people despise him the way they do?? I dont even accept the time he and Harry got into it during 4th year nor the horcrux hunt as excuses. Ron was just the typical teenager dealing with hardships and things that were WAY too mature for him to be dealing with, as well as Harry and Hermione. He has flaws just as much as Harry and Hermione. Had not so nice moments just like Harry and Hermione. And yet he is trashed. He gets all these exaggerations and untruths and made out to be worse than a freaking Death Eater.
And for what??
Ron “Best Friend To Harry Potter And Unwavering Love Of Hermione Granger’s Life” does not deserve the hate he gets. And if the trio actually existed, Harry and Hermione would be fighting people daily over the things these Ron bashers say about him.
I thank @diva-gonzo for that one, for I have the books… but they’re in French, so that would have been awkward to read.
Transcript:
The final match of the Quidditch season, Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw, was to take place on the last weekend of May. Although Slytherin had been narrowly defeated by Hufflepuff in their last match, Gryffindor were not daring to hope for victory, due mainly (though of course nobody said it to him) to Ron’s abysmal goal-keeping record. He, however, seemed to have found a new optimism.
“I mean, I can’t get any worse, can I?” he told Harry and Hermione grimly over breakfast on the morning of the match. “Nothing to lose now, is there?”
“You know”, said Hermione, as she and Harry walked down to the pitch a little later in the midst of a very excitable crowd, “I think Ron might do better without Fred and George around. They never exactly gave him a lot of confidence.”
Luna Lovegood overtook them with what appeared to be a live eagle perched on top of her head.
they (esp the twins) were really shitty to ron and looking back, it’s quite unsettling that ron was afraid of them. they straight up bullied him (esp the twins) and it shouldn’t be shrugged off with a simple “it’s called being siblings.”
bill, charlie and percy are cool tho
Ron’s relationship with the twins is NOT what healthy sibling relationships look like.
Seriously. I’m not an only child; the way Fred and George treated Ron is deeply, utterly fucked-up.
Like, Christ Almighty, even Hermione noticed how bad the twins were for Ron! She remarks that since their departure, Ron seems happier and more relaxed. That’s a HUGE red flag here! If not having someone around makes you less tense, it means that there’s a goddamn problem in your relationship!
In the books Ron’s family tends to be weirdly passive-aggressive towards him. Even kind, mild-mannered Bill calls Ron an idiot once – with the big brother worship Ron has going on, it probably stung.
Percy and Ginny, in the first five books, are shown to be supportive of Ron – before HBP happens and suddenly Ginny becomes A Hot Badass Strong Female Character, which if you’re fluent in Rowling translates into “an abusive b-”.
I love Fred and George, really I do. I’m still not over Fred’s… accident… and I tend to avoid post-war stories because of it. But that doesn’t change the fact that they were awful big brothers to Ron.
Very true. The twins were seriously horrible to Ron (although, Fred definitely more than George). Ginny was pretty horrendous in HBP with no clear reason why, and even Bill could be rude to Ron for seemingly no reason. Percy was okay at first, but his personality did clash with Ron’s a lot.
I’m of the opinion that Charlie was pretty much the only one of Ron’s siblings who treated him with the respect he deserved. Which is worrying considering that Ron is one of seven children. That’s not a good sign.
When Ginny tells Harry that she’s pregnant, Harry’s second thought (after being incredibly overjoyed) is a dawning feeling of horror that the baby will be just. like. him.
“Ginny we flew a car to Hogwarts when we were twelve years old. You don’t understand.”
“Oh sweet Merlin we flew out of Gringotts on a dragon.”
“I caught the snitch in my mouth Ginny how will I survive a child that’s anything like me.”
“The boa constrictor just wanted to go to Brazil it seemed reasonable at the time.”
Oh my Ron would be so thrilled.
“Harry I can’t wait to tell your kid all about Dad and Uncle Ron stealing Granny and Granddad’s car”
“NO RON THAT’S SETTING A BAD EXAMPLE”
“Or how about the time Dad blew up his aunt”
“RON NO BEAR IN MIND HERMIONE IS THIS SPROG’S AUNT”
“Oh no worries I’ll just tell the kid about the time Aunt Hermione set a teacher on fire while Dad was doing risky things on a broomstick and Uncle Ron was punching Malfoy in the face”
“RON!”
Tbh Harry is totally asking for it though by naming his firstborn “James Sirius”.
I am so unimaginative but these are some I’ve had and/or stolen haha
Ron is a good cook – he’s Molly’s son but not only that when he works with George I imagine how much he cooked for them.
He never quite told Harry that he didn’t understand his choice of name in Albus Severus haha.
Ginny and Harry get married before them.
Ron stays fit like as hell. He eats better as he gets older, plays quidditch with the family regularly, general running around after the kids and I like the idea of him taking up running and maybe ruby but that’s due to my love of rugby players lmao. He also broke his nose several times after the war. Hermione thinks it makes him look rugged. Ginny tells him to get it fixed.
They are a very huggy family, that’s mostly due to Ron.
Ron can’t help but spoil the kids and himself after being brought up with money so tight but it’s important to him he teaches them the value of money and hard work. George and Ron employee all the kids at WWW some point or another.
He helps Hermione express her emotions in a better way.
Family are the most important thing to him.
He helps his kids cope with being famous.
Ron suffers with nightmares after the war, his family is what gets him through.
Much to Hermione’s dismay he framed their chocolate frog cards together.
Ron is very supportive of Rose and Hugo going to muggle primary school.
He had to learn how to use a computer to pass his theory test for driving and understands them far better than Hermione. I’d almost argue he ends up more integrated in muggle things than her.
One of the only surprises he manages to keep from Hermione is the proposal.
Ron looks ridiculously attractive both in muggle and wizard clothes.
He sees Hermione in work whenever he can. Big events like that are not for him but he is always there to support her.
Ron never understands the female attention he gets, he’s oblivious to it not that it would matter if he noticed it.
His hair stays red in to old age, older than his father at least.
