I think the reason why Hufflepuffs are ridiculed is because they don’t have many outstanding qualities. A lot of people can be nice, loyal and fair but the ‘problem’ with the world we’re living in today is that everybody has a need to be outstanding and prominent. Hufflepuffs have many great traits but not many that can be expected from famous scientist, leader or storybook hero. They seem like the house of unsong everyday people (an average Joe) while other houses are more in the public eye.

So, apparently King Arthur, Robin Hood, Lucy Pevensie, and Samwise Gamgee aren’t storybook heroes anymore? The traits of Hufflepuff house (kindness, loyalty, friendship) tie into so many myths, legends and stories that they can hardly be considered unexpected.

The real difference between Gryffindor and Slytherin

Gryffindor : Mate, I would die for you

Slytherin : I will kill for you, bro. Just give me the word, the bitch is dead

Ravenclaw: I’ll find a way we both can survive

Hufflepuff: I’ll die with you

Accurate

Slytherin: We’re gonna die.

Hufflepuff: [steps forward and in front of the Slytherin] Not if I can help it.

Once again, Hufflepuffs are considered pushovers. I’m with you in that exasperation, @diva-gonzo. Honestly…

Hufflepuff pride is a very internet based thing, I think. None of the people i know IRL are in Hufflepuff – I even knew one woman who went to WWoHP, got sorted into Hufflepuff and made the person doing the hat do it again until she got something else. It’s random – not even a quiz like on pottermore. And like, all the Gryffindor and slytherin stuff on mightyape sells out so quick, but hpuff merch languishes there for ages.

Hogwarts Mystery game proves that this ish is false. I’ve seen more people rep Hufflepuff in their posts than ever. I also know a lot more Hufflepuffs than I do my own house (Gryffindor).

I think the person who confessed this just wanted an excuse to bash on Hufflepuffs. Which is weird, because I know more Hufflepuffs IRL than any other house.

I have a feeling that all those people that were sorted into Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slytherin on Pottermore and who are saying: “Nobody should be disappointed to be sorted into Hufflepuff, it’s a great house, I would have loved to be in that house, loyalty and patience is important bla bla..” are just lying. If Pottermore sorted them into Hufflepuff I think majority of them would be like: “Wtf?! I don’t wanna be in lame Hufflepuff, this sucks!” But nobody of course can admit it out loud.

I’m a Gryffindor, and I definitely dont think like that.

But go off I guess.

Okay, I think this confessor just wanted to bash on Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff is a brilliant house to be in, and I’m a proud Hufflepuff! We’re kind, loyal, friendly, and hard-working- what’s not to love? Us badgers aren’t ‘lame’ and our house doesn’t suck. Stop being so rude!

And thank you to people from the other houses who are calling this confessor out on their bull-cr*p. You guys are awesome!

Have any of you watched the Harry Potterathon by The Dom on YouTube? It’s part of his Lost in Adaptation videos and it’s an in depth, sarcastic, and dynamic study of how the movies are loyal to the books they are adapted from, right down to the details. Plus, his diction is easily understandable which makes it accessible to non native speakers like me. Watching those videos made me want to read the books again.

It’s a good video series (even though Terence is an absolute JERK towards Hufflepuffs).
