you: hermione never abandoned harry when he was picked for the goblet of fire!!!!! h@rmione is the best!!!!
me, and intellectual:please stop using this point because it doesn’t mean shit and actually weakens your argument.hermione being friends with harry after the goblet of fire thing didn’t change harry’s mood at all. he was grateful that she believed him (frankly, hagrid also believed him and so did dumbledore but I don’t see you guys shipping them) but he didn’t enjoy spending time with hermione alone. harry missed ron so much. he needed his company, his sense of humour, his knowledge of quidditch, how he could share the randomest of random things with him, etc. harry needed his wheezy. when harry spent time with hermione, he got bored and annoyed because she kept on nagging him. he angrily told her to shut up when she nagged him too much. fun fact: hermione stopped speaking to them after the whole scabbers vs crooshanks thing and also because of the firebolt thing and harry didn’t miss her at all. he missed ron’s company when they weren’t talking. he didn’t miss hermione’s company when they weren’t talking. anotherfun fact: hermione stopped speaking to ron after the whole lavender thing yet I don’t see you bitching about that. are you secretly a ron/harry shipper that you only care if ron and harry stop talking to each other?
People who deem Ron irredeemable and “unworthy” of Hermione (concerning his mistakes), only do it because they are passive readers who lack critical thinking. They need everything to be pointed out to them. They need all the “You’re the brightest witch of your age” and the “You’re amazing, you are” lines for Ron Weasley as well, because it’s impossible for them to love a character unless they’re told to. They’re unable to use their brains, and think outside the box. They bash Ron becausehis mistakes are acknowledged by the narrative. When Hermione messes up, it’s girl power. When Harry messes up, it’s fine because he has a lot on his plate (although, Harry does get called out when he messes up and sadly, Harry also gets a lot of hate.) When Ron messes up, he gets punished, humiliated, called out, and eventually, learns from his mistakes……which is a blessing in disguise tbh. It’s funny how Ron haters are so quick to point out his less than stellar moments, but forget about his character development. Lol, fuck them. I’d rather have a character who is punished for their mistakes, than a character whose mistakes are glorified.
Think about it. We dislike Umbridge because she gave Harry (and other students) scars. But Hermione? She essentially did the same thing and scarred Marietta as a form of punishment, without informing the DA about the consequences of betrayal. She did the same thing to Ron and “punished” him for going out with Lavender by attacking him with birds and giving him (temporary?) scars and cuts.
So why don’t people consider what Hermione did to the same extent as Umbridge? Oh, yeah. Because Ron didn’t burst into tears whenever Hermione hurt him emotionally or physically. Because people’s actions aren’t measured by the actions themselves but by the victim’s reactions. Because fuck J.K Rowling and her obvious favouritism for Hermione Granger.
Absolutely all of this. And even more so – Ron says so himself. He says when he’s doing something wrong Harry does sometimes. Hermione never does.
Why do people who hate Ron Weasley always throw a temper tantrum when they find somebody who loves him.
Like seriously, every single time someone makes a post talking about how much they love him and how great he is,their’s always that one asshole that’s like ‘This post was created to offend,me,personally’ and they go on a long ass rant on how eviiiiiiiiiil this teenage boy is for being stupid(he’s not,he just hates school),shallow,(Again, teenager and only really in the fourth book but go off i guess)and a gold digger(being sad bc you grew up poor and your friend is rich means you only see them as money now????).
Like,i get that you don’t like him but be normal about it man, jesus christ.

The Harry Potter fandom is really strange. People are so quick to point out that a Ravenclaw can be a Ravenclaw and get the worst grades, because there are various types of intelligence, which is great. However, the “every kid is smart in their own way” mentality is applied to everyone but Ron Weasley.
Everything about Ron Weasley is forgotten; his strategic abilities, his emotional intelligence, his sharp wit, his common sense, his knowledge of the wizarding world, his willingness to do the heavy-lifting to repair a relationship, his ability to forgive others when they don’t deserve it, his aptitude for emotional magic, etc. Apparently, Ron getting Es instead of Os in his O.W.Ls or being occasionally lazy about his homework, is equivalent to Ron being a “stupid, useless and illiterate boy who isn’t good enough for the Brilliant Hermione.” Despite the fact that Ron enjoys engaging with Hermione instead of ignoring her, despite the fact that he is happy to call her out on her shit and isn’t afraid of challenging her, the fandom believes that he’s not intellectually compatible with Hermione. Seriously, HP fandom?
Let it be known, that according to the Harry Potter fandom, grades and intelligence don’t matter if you want to be a Ravenclaw. Grades and intelligence only matter if you want to be with Hermione Granger.
Dear HP fandom; don’t be hypocrites. I request you to start treating Ron Weasley the way you treat Ravenclaws. 🙂
i said 2k19 because there’s less than one month left of 2018 so i guess i can let you off the hook for the moment but in 2019 we are giving ron the love he deserves and that is not up for debate
Characters it would make sense to have fall asleep in the library whilst researching for the second task in the GOF film:
Hermione Granger. Works herself way too hard, and stays in the library a lot anyway. Has a tendency to forget all that’s going on around her when she’s studying. It wouldn’t surprise me if she lost sleep from reading textbooks til the early hours.
Harry Potter. Is stressed out from the Triwizard Tournament, and finds studying tiring anyway. Is probably losing sleep over what could happen to him in the third task
Characters that it doesn’t make any sense to have fall asleep in the library whilst researching for the second task in the GOF film:
Ron Weasley. Is super-supportive of his best friends, and wants to help Harry out with his research for the second task. Is probably still beating himself up about not believing Harry at first about not putting his name in the goblet of fire. While Ron doesn’t enjoy studying for long periods, his friends’ well-being is a high priority for him, and he wants them to be okay. Knows when to take a break from studying and keep himself alert. You’d have to be extraordinarily ignorant of Ron’s character to ever think he’d fall asleep whilst researching a way to keep Harry alive.
what she means: why do jk rowling and the pottermore staff think ron’s only talents are eating sweets and supporting the chudley cannons? have they suddenly been struck with amnesia so severe that they’ve forgotten the events in all seven books that lead to everything his character is? or have they been exposed to the movies for too long? do they honestly think that ron is just there for comic relief? just there to be ‘one of harry’s two best friends’, eating sweets and supporting the chudley cannons? why is he treated so unfairly by the very people that are supposed to understand his character best? does the staff at pottermore realise how many people relate so very deeply to ron and all that he represents? and that, by reducing his character to nothing more than ‘eating sweets and supporting the chudley cannons’ they take away that relatability, as well as indirectly offending the thousands that identify strongly with ron’s personality and storyline? what are they doing? why are they doing it? will ron weasley ever get the appreciation he deserves? when will this injustice end?
wayyyyy too many people: ron weasley is a horrible person and doesn’t deserve hermione
me: i am so so proud of ron weasley. actual light of my life. my favorite dude. i am genuinely afraid that i will never meet a person in my life who is as amazing as him. tears are forming in my eyes as we speak. 10/10 best knight best friend would let him make me tea when i’m upset.
