I think Hermione would struggle with potion substance abuse to be able to cope and function in her year back at Hogwarts. She doesn’t have Ron’s present support, which she would really lean on the summer after the war. She’s a bit alone now that both of the people she would depend on for friendship aren’t with her, even Neville didn’t come back. And while her friendship with Ginny and Luna develop, it really isn’t quite the same, and they’re also struggling with their own things. Like Luna and her time being imprisoned in Malfoy Mannor and Ginny being a bit angry on not being on the loop that whole year. Then there are the nightmares and consequences from the torture and her time spent in depression basically in the tent. I just wonder how will she manage it, how would Ron react to it, when she finishes Hogwarts and he realizes what’s going on. I think that’s when she comes to terms on how she hasn’t really been coping with the war. And starts seeking help from an outside person. While, I think Ron and Harry already start having that help cause Auror training must have a mental health component. So they’re already starting their own healing process.
Interesting ideas; thanks for the message, @delannscape. I tend to avoid more dark headcanons, but these are some interesting ideas.
