Okay, so you know how Percy seemed to be pretty protective of Ron in the books (especially in GoF, during the second task)? How do you think he felt when he heard of Ron being poisoned and almost dying in HBP? How did he even hear of it? Did he get a note from Bill/Molly/another Weasley, or did he only learn of it at work when people gossiped about Mr Weasley’s youngest son nearly dying?

hillnerd:

Yes! I headcanon that Molly continued to write him the whole time- but he didn’t read the notes because it would be too hard to continue ignoring them. When Ron was prefect he found out at the Ministry, so I imagine the same thing happened.

Percy cares very deeply about Ron- he gifted him his rat, he loses it when he’s in danger in GoF, he even writes him about being a prefect and seems to be trying to get him to his side. He sees something in Ron the others don’t- and says as much in his letter. He means well, as pompous as he comes off.

I feel he’d be very torn about it when his little brother is poisoned and he feels he can’t do anything. The last letter he wrote was met with silence (I’m assuming Ron wouldn’t even respond after tearing it up and throwing it into the fire.) Percy desperately wants to go there and see Ron in person! Make sure his baby brother is ok. But then the rest of the family might be there. He just can’t bring himself to see them, especially his father. Also, it would probably hurt Ron’s healing for there to be excitement and drama. Plus Ron probably doesn’t want to see him anyways….

Percy considers writing Ron, but convinces himself his brother hates him and wouldn’t want to hear from him. Percy ends up asking Kingsley, as he knows the man is close to his father. Kingsley at first says Percy should ask his family, hoping to force him to reunite with them- but when he sees the torn look on Percy’s face decides to tell him his brother is alright. Explains what happened. “He’d be better if his older brother were to check on him.”

Percy shakes his head knowing Ron wouldn’t want to see him, and gets back to work- though he finds it rather difficult to concentrate. Things are changing in the ministry, in the world- he can feel it. He knows his whole family is way too close to it. And more than any of them, his little brother is in it, putting his body on the line, and will be fighting battles long before he’s out of school.

Hi (other) nonny! Thank you for the ask!!

13. Shout out to some of your favorite authors!

I’m really bad at recs because I’m terrible at saving fics I’ve read that I like. But! I have quite a few mutuals who write and a few other people I know of whose writing I adore, so I’ll shout all those lovely people out! @headcanonsandmore , @weasleyismyking540 , @hillnerd (who is also a wildly talented artist), @trademarkblue@mugglemama@wildegreenlight , @aloemilk, @remedial-potions are a few (and I’m so, so sorry if I’m forgetting anyone)

PS I also write and am shamelessly promoting myself right now. I’m on FF.net and Ao3.org under the same name if you’re looking 🙂

14. Shout out to some of your favorite artists!

Same as before, I’m not good at recs, but here are some of the people I follow and love love love:

@hillyminne (so stupidly talented. Please become her patron!), @blvnk-art and her NSFW blog @blissful-blvnk , @stopblushingemma (if you want some awesome Romione pics that get a bit NSFW, this is your girl), @barmy-owl, @fleamontpotter (literally some of the funniest HP comics in the world), @manonhart@atalienart (one of my all-time fav interpreters of Ron), @zippityzaparoo , @luanatlsmarts , @artofpan , @emmilinne , @upthehillart (draws how I secretly imagine Hermione), @jillarts , @loquaciousliterature (her artwork from some of the book moments are just SO UNBELIEVABLY GOOD), @eloenne , @bloomsbury , @boaillustration , @tiny-gorilla , @gin-draws , @wingedcorgi , @runningquill-art , @rmeisel-art , @katriadraws , @potter-art , @albus119 , @ra-ro81 , @ariiandelle , @tlpursuit

16. An unpopular character you love?

I hate that this character is even considered unpopular, but…

I LOVE RON BILIUS WEASLEY SO MUCH I COULD DIE.

The amount of negativity and scorn he receives is absurd and makes me so angry. He is kind and brave and insecure and wonderful and I just…

AHHH I JUST LOVE THIS CHARACTER SO MUCH, YOU GUYS. SONNETS AND SONGS NEED TO BE WRITTEN IN HIS HONOR. BIRDS SING AND BABY ANGELS FLY WHEN HE’S NEAR.

HE’S JUST THE FREAKING BEST AND I LOVE HIM SO, SO, SO MUCH

Awww, thank you @burgundydahlia! That means a lot to me!

1, 3, and 15 for the sweet asks?

burgundydahlia:

Hi @lytefoot !! Thanks for the ask, dearie!

1. What’s your OTP in your fandom(s)? What do you love about them?

I love that everyone keeps asking this because I honestly love talking non-stop about how effing amazing Romione is. But yeah, as I mentioned here, Romione is my end-all, be-all, one true pairing from now until the end of time.

3. Favorite BroTPs in your fandom(s)?

100% Harry and Ron. Are there two boys who have been more platonically in love with one another? Maybe, but I don’t care because they aren’t Harry Potter and Ron Weasley.

These boys aren’t just friends – they’re brothers. Ron would willingly sacrifice himself for Harry, would follow him through Hell and back in order to help and protect him, and is one of his strongest and staunchest defenders, champions, and friends.

As for Harry? Allow me to remind everyone that the thing Harry would miss the most is RON – and that was proven to be true both in book 4 and book 7 when Ron left.

These boys are the BroTP to end all BroTPs. I love their friendship and their loyalty to one another, and I honestly don’t know why they aren’t more popular as a ship.

Also, side note: Harry James Potter and Hermione Jean Granger would kick the ever-loving shit out of any and everyone who besmirches the good name of Ronald Bilius Weasley.

15. What’s your favorite rare pair in your fandom(s)?

Do George and Angelina count as a rare-pair? Because I love them together so much (I have @hillnerd to blame thank for it because she wrote a beautiful piece about them and I still haven’t recovered).

Also, back when DH came out, I kinda shipped Neville and Luna for a bit – they’re both so soft and lovely and kind and suffered losses young in life and I thought, and still think, they could be such a sweet couple. But I love that Neville and Hannah got together and became the cool couple who live in the flat over the Three Broomsticks. I feel like Neville’s students probably think he’s just so effing cool and it tickles me to no end.

And, again, if you consider shipping Ron and Hermione a rare pair then sign me up because that shit is my life’s blood.

burgundydahlia:

Why, hello, nonny 🙂 Thank you for the ask and apologies for taking so long to respond!

1. What’s your OTP in your fandom(s)? What do you love about them?

I answered this here, but in short, it’s really just Romione. They are my children and my life source and I will go down with SS The Good Ship any time, any day.

10. What are some of your favorite tropes?

I am complete and utter trash for a good romantic trope. Many of them I try to include in my stories, such as friends to lovers, almost kissing but being interrupted at the last minute, characters who literally put themselves in harms way in order to protect the ones they love, characters who finally confess their feelings and then their partner is so overwhelmed by it, they launch themselves at them and kiss them, mirrored moments, a.k.a when something happens in a scene at the beginning of a story and then pops up again in a slightly altered manner later in the story, (aka foreshadowing lol), etc.

Seriously? Give me all the mushy romantic tropes. Just, straight up, “THEY WERE ROOMMATES WITH ONE BED WHO WERE PRETENDING TO DATE!!!!”

11. What are some of your favorite things about your fandom(s)?

That it’s still as active, if not more so, then when I first joined years and years ago. That it creates a bond between people who would otherwise be strangers from different walks of life and creates this wonderful community of people who are passionate about the same thing. That it inspires so much incredible creativity from people, be it actors who RP, artists who draw or make mood boards or character boards, or writers who write stories whether they be epic, 100,000+ word stories or short and silly drabbles based on prompts from Tumblr.

HP and the fandom has some parts that can be less than savory at times, but for the most part, it’s a blessing and a haven and I feel so unbelievably grateful I’m a part of it

I kinda want to write a Romione fic that has all those tropes together, now.

1, 2, and 19 for the sweet asks, please!

burgundydahlia:

Hi @restlessandordinary ! Thanks for sending these and sorry it took so long to answer! 🙂

1. What’s your OTP in your fandom(s)? What do you love about them?

Ron x Hermione in HP, a.k.a. Romione, aka The Good Ship, aka my literal loves and one true obsession along with being my OTP.

I could, and have, written ad nauseam about how incredible and perfect and amazing and wonderful and I could go on forever and ever about why Romione is the ultimate OTP of OTPs, but I honestly am trying to restrain myself for once.

In my best attempt at a TL;DR, Ron and Hermione and just as similar as they are different. They are passionate and complicated and rooted in a deep admiration and love for each other borne from friendship that makes them feel truthful and real. Their relationship is a slow-burn, friends-to-lovers, will-they-won’t-they goldmine that is exciting to read and write about. They balance one another and I truly believe they make each other better people (also, they were literal kids who then went through a war when they first met and fell in love so obviously they will grow and change and I truly believe they understand each other in a way that no one else ever could).

Honestly? They’re just… SO GOOD.

2) What’s a headcanon you love for your OTP?

Oh man, what isn’t a headcanon I love for my OTP? I’ve shared a few before, so here’s one I haven’t (which also happens to be an idea I have for a one-shot). This one concerns the ridiculous origins of Ron and Hermione’s pet names for one another.

In the early stages of their relationship, Ron and Hermione are uncharacteristically non-confrontational, especially right after the Battle of Hogwarts. Emotionally and mentally spent, as well as physically, they’re focused on taking care of each other, those around them, and themselves. They’re also a little nervous – they spent a long time dancing around their feelings and trying to hide them, while also being painfully aware of how increasingly difficult that was becoming, and testing each other’s boundaries because they wanted to be together but didn’t know how to just say so out loud. Fighting, or more accurately, bickering and debating, while usually a totally normal part of their communication-style, suddenly feels off-limits because they are new in their relationship and really trying to be on their best behavior. They don’t want to mess this up.

Eventually when they finally have their first “fight,” it’s sparked by something silly – a dumb squabble about nothing that quickly snowballs into a screaming match. And at the peak of it, because my babies are angry and petty, they resort to calling each other names. But not just any old names, mind you. Oh, no.

Hermione and Ron, my beautiful, jealous, madly-in-love children who are scared and hurt and still trying to figure out how to be together, pull out the embarrassing nicknames their respective exes used.

Hermione mockingly calls Ron Won-Won. Ron sneers and calls Hermione Hermy-own-ninny.

They glare at one another, still fuming, but then they start laughing and can’t stop. And when they finally calm down, they sit and they talk. They talk and talk and talk – and at that moment, they reach a sort of relationship milestone.

In time, because they think it’s hilarious and weird and oddly-fitting, they start calling each other Won-Won and Hermy-own-ninny every time they start to get on each other nerves. It never fails to stop them both in their tracks and remind them to slow down and reassess and actually communicate. Eventually, the nicknames – the names that were previously the cause of so much hurt and jealous rage – start to bleed into their everyday interactions. They’re used in a tongue-in-cheek way and as a means of affectionately teasing one another, and then become oddly sweet and affectionate.

Ron and Hermione love each other so much and the ability to look at their embarrassing and petty behaviors from their past and grow up and move on together is a big reason why they’re perfect for each other. And the odd choice of pet names is a great example of it.

For the record, the first time Harry heard them call each other Won-Won and Hermy-own-ninny, he choked on his drink.

19. How has fandom positively changed your life?

Oh my God, there aren’t enough words. Harry Potter and the HP fandom have changed my life in big and small ways and there is literally no way I can ever attempt to describe it. I love this fandom, even on the bad days, and I am so wildly grateful for it. I just… yeah. For once, I’m legitimately speechless 🙂

Thanks for the ask!!!

likehandlingroses:

The funniest gag would be if Percy and Oliver just both think the other one is totally chill…and it freaks Fred and George out so much. They can’t figure out what is going on.

Percy will be like, “sure, Oliver likes his Quidditch, but so does everyone else around here. He’s on the team, after all.” And the twins don’t even know how to respond to that. And then Oliver will be like, “Yeah, Percy’s always nice to have around when you’re in a pinch… kind of quiet, but I don’t mind that.” And NOW the twins are more confused than ever.

At first they think they must just not talk much to each other…but that doesn’t seem right. They live together AND have had classes together for years. And neither of them seems self-aware or subtle enough to have hidden their basic personalities for that long. So they go investigating one night, and sure enough, there’s Percy and Oliver in the dorm both being…completely themselves. Like Oliver is pacing and saying Quidditch moves to himself, and Percy keeps just randomly popping his head out of his book to loudly tell some tangentially related story about how his day has gone. What’s more, they both seem 100% comfortable with that arrangement.

And the twins almost don’t want to tell anyone else because it’s the single greatest thing they’ve ever seen.

gaylileofigaro:

This is worse. Looking at these you can tell they have no significant monetary value. They were confiscated as a fear tactic. Nothing more.

This picture breaks my heart everytime it appears in my dash. It’s a fear tactic, alright but—

The first one in the left corner: It’s a first communion rosary, and it’s not cheap.

The black one in the first line: That’s a widow rosary and it’s old.

The white one in the second line:  is a commemoration rosary. It has a miniature picture in the round part. I haven’t seen that since the 70′s.

In the third line, multicolor one: It’s an Anima mundi, I have only seen those in the hands of Rosary ministery’s old ladies. The oldest ones are from the 80′s after Juan Pablo II came to Mexico for the first time. It’s one of the old ones, I know because the crucifixes are different.

The third one on the fourth line: Red and gold. The style is old, the metal is dark, that’s a 50′s rosary, probably a quinceañera one (or it’s maybe older, from the 40′s when the brides carried red roses with their offerings).

The fifth one on the fourth line: It’s a quinceañera rosary with Ignatius’s tear. The style is old and in my part of Mexico is orphan girls who used it. At least it was when I was young.

The third one of the fifth line: the blue one with the anchor. That one I have only seen in Veracruz and it doesn’t look new.

The fifth one on the fifth line: That’s a 90′s wedding rosary. Black and white patterns were popular on that date.

The fourth one on the last line: That’s a first communion rosary from the 30′s. It’s delicate and most probably silver.

The rest wrench my heart too, the humble everyday rosaries with wooden beads and knots. Those are cheap and bear the wear and tear of their user handling. But those  I described are much more.

Those are mother’s rosaries.

Those are not just rosaries. Those are mementos, that’s the proof of their families stories. They are taking from them the only portable things they can carry to feel the connection to their families.

It’s not a fear tactic. Call it like by its name.

It’s dehumanization.
