If you would report an undocumented immigrant to ICE you would have reported me to the Nazis and I don’t fucking trust you

A note:

I live in a state where you “have to” report anyone you suspect of being undocumented (that wonderful hellhole of Arizona). Now in practice this law has fallen far short, thank goodness. But if you live in such a place and they start enforcing it, here is how you get around it:

Assume everyone who doesn’t speak English is visiting.

Never ask about their job, because if they tell you they work here then you know they’re not visiting. You see them a lot for several weeks or months? Hm. Someone in the family must be ill. That’s terribly tough. They always dress in old, ratty laborers’ clothes? I feel you, my dude, I can’t afford new clothes either, and my dad has the fashion sense of an aardvark, so sometimes it’s not even about “affording” them. They say they’ve been here for years? You must have misunderstood. Spanish isn’t your first language, after all. First and last name? It never came up, or you don’t recall–you meet a lot of people.

And then, if you’re asked: no, you haven’t seen anyone residing illegally in the United States. Just people visiting.

Very good very important addition

Essentially, this is the civil society version of a work-to-rule strike.

Don’t do more than is expressly asked of you, and do what you are asked with such an intense attention to protocol that not asking you at all becomes more effective than even bothering.

In this case:

“Have you seen an illegal immigrant?”

“Could you describe an illegal immigrant, officer?”

*officer describes a person who is in the country without appropriate paperwork, or who has crossed the border illegally*

“No, sir, I haven’t seen any illegal immigrant.”

And this is correct. You have NOT seen an illegal immigrant, because you have no way of knowing if Jose Fulano is here legally or not. And since you can’t see his paperwork (or lack thereof), and did not personally see him cross the border illegally, you are only answering precisely the question asked.

I’m not American, and I have like, three followers, but this is important.

Dancing in the night

Hello again!! I’m the same guy who wrote the previous head canon’s about Hermione’s possessiveness and Ron being the unsung hero. I’m writing another one because I just finished rereading and re-watching the Harry Potter series and I wanted to write how Ron and Hermione would have reacted to (in my opinion) the worst scene in the entire movie series- The dance scene in DH part 1

Ron and Hermione decided to not attend the premiere of Deathly Hallows part 1 like everyone else for two reasons. The first being they wanted a quiet date night by themselves as husband and wife and the second being they didn’t want a mob of people there when they reacted to the Malfoy Manor scene. They drive through the cold night to the edge of London far from the premiere, and they stop in a small quiet town with little to no cars and as luck would have it a small cinema showing Deathly Hallows part 1.

They buy their food and sit at the far edge of the cinema where no one would be watching and wait for the movie to start. The film goes well enough for the first hour even if they left out some of the major parts but still passable enough to watch. That all change when Ron leaves on screen. Ron watching himself to that is not anymore affected as he dealt with that issue a long time ago and faced it. However, it’s what happens after that really brings shock to him. Harry and Hermione dancing on screen, laughing, and looking happy without him. He turns to Hermione and sees that she is also shocked by it herself. Ron decides at that point to leave the cinema and give himself time to think. Hermione stays and watch the movie portray a relationship that she never wanted and will never want.

Hermione then she sees the locket scene and realising she can’t take anymore of this also decides to leave the cinema. She finds Ron under a lamppost and notices the tears in his eyes. She sits down beside him and says “what that film showed, it’s not true”. Ron is still  quiet and Hermione decides that now is not the time for words or lengthy explanations but a time for action. Hermione stands up and offers her hand. “May I have this dance Mr. Weasley?” she says. Ron takes her hand and gets up and under the lamppost they dance. They dance for hours and hours to soundless music, they dance though the night not caring who sees them, and they dance until their feet are tired but they keep moving. Hours later, Ron says that he knows it wasn’t real but he was afraid that maybe what the movie said was right that Hermione would be happy with someone else. Hermione smiles and says “ I can never be happy without you Ron Weasley” and they dance again under the light.

THANK YOU FOR SUBMITTING AGAIN! THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!

I was trying to stay out of this issue, but I’m getting really irritated by this Emma Watson-Tom Felton thing. Seriously, half the HP pages I follow online seem to have gone nuts over it.

I used to just think it was people who shipped the two actors together, but I’m starting to suspect this ‘are they actually dating?’ rumour is developing traction in the rest of the fandom.

I mean, I’m usually in the vein of ‘let shippers ship (as long as it’s not incest, abusive, pedophilic, etc.)’ but I really don’t like the idea of shipping IRL people.

Thoughts, everyone? Please don’t start a fandom war,  I’m just curious as to what everyone thinks.

I’ve ranted about this yesterday so I’m not too irritated rn. Normally, I get angry in these situations because I feel sorry for the actors, but I don’t even feel a little bit sorry for the Feltson. Tom and Emma are doing it on purpose and nothing will convince me otherwise. They know better than anyone that the simple minds will go nuts every time they hang out together. So why would they add fuel to the fire? Oh yeah, because this is exactly what they wanted, and they got it. Felton’s new series is going to be launched soon so he decided to take advantage of his fanbase. Emma wanted publicity as usual. Simple as that.

The Feltson and Dramione shippers are reacting just like they did when Emma revealed her crush on Felton. Just like they did when Tom and Emma (and Matt) took a picture at the BATB premiere. The behaviour of the fandom doesn’t surprise me. I’m only surprised because I thought that the actors would know better (especially Tom, I only expect the worst from Watson)

So just ignore what the media thinks. Let them enjoy their crack-ship. Let’s just hope that this nonsense doesn’t leak into the Ron/Romione fandom.

@ronandhappiness Interesting points. I did suspect that a little bit, although I thought that was just me being jaded. You know my somewhat low opinion of Emma Watson already, but I expected better of Tom Felton. He always came across to me as having his head screwed on properly although I’m not sure that phrase is used outside of the UK so ignore that.

It’s especially odd that he’d do this, considering the fan reaction that happened last time. I mean, Tom’s then-girlfriend got online abuse and (apparently) death threats. You’d think he’d be more cautious about this sort of thing due to that. Maybe the publicity people for his new show insisted on it?

Honestly, I really hope the media thing dies down about this. It’s just creepy to hear about. I don’t want anything to do with it, but the media speculation means it’s really difficult to ignore.

Hopefully (*touches wood*) this sort of thing won’t leak into the Ron/Romione side of the fandom. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson barely talk nowadays, and Rupert isn’t even on social media, so I think we’ll be okay. I always get the sense that Rupert doesn’t care much for publicising his stuff over social media anyway (since he tends to go for more appearances-type promotion).

They seem to forget that emma was spotted with a new boyfriend last month. I really don’t mind shipping real life people when the shippers are like “they both would be cute together” and that just it. But when they get to the point where their shipping is so intense then that’s really bad and fucked up.

That’s what I don’t understand. Like last time the two met, Tom Felton’s then-girlfriend got online abuse from some people who shipped him and Emma Watson. Apparently, it got so bad that Tom and his girlfriend ended up splitting.

If it’s in a ‘they’d be cute together’ kind-of way, then I could tolerate it. But when it gets to the level of abusing their actual IRL partners, then it’s gone too far.

Like you say, it can get really messed up.

Thanks for the message, anon.
