On the Tom-Emma crap going on: the video was super cute but I saw it more as an awwhh they’re friends and they were part of my fave series but I don’t get why everyone’s going so ott about it? Like the responses I was expecting was like huh that’s cute then moving on or like just indifference lol… people need to chill out and mind their business like maybe they are together, maybe they’re just mates it literally doesn’t matter. Shipping irl people is just rude and lowkey invasive imo

Exactly. I’ve got no problems with the two actors hanging out (my personal opinion on Emma Watson’s personality notwithstanding), but the fan reaction has been making me very uncomfortable.

The responses I would have expected from fans are like you ones you just listed; ‘ah, they’re friends hanging out’, ‘they’re still close’, etc.

I don’t like shipping IRL, so this whole fandom of ‘ooooh, are they secretly dating?’ just creeps me out. Jeez, just let them be.

Like you say, it feels rude and low-key invasive.

Thanks for the message, anon.

I was trying to stay out of this issue, but I’m getting really irritated by this Emma Watson-Tom Felton thing. Seriously, half the HP pages I follow online seem to have gone nuts over it.

I used to just think it was people who shipped the two actors together, but I’m starting to suspect this ‘are they actually dating?’ rumour is developing traction in the rest of the fandom.

I mean, I’m usually in the vein of ‘let shippers ship (as long as it’s not incest, abusive, pedophilic, etc.)’ but I really don’t like the idea of shipping IRL people.

Thoughts, everyone? Please don’t start a fandom war,  I’m just curious as to what everyone thinks.

Write that book you’ve been planning in your head. Tell your crush you think they’re cute. Splash in a puddle. Try rollerblading. Dye your hair an interesting colour. Buy foreign-language vinyl records. Try out a new restaurant. Learn how to cook in a new style. Try stand-up comedy. Learn a new language. Watch the sun rise. Watch the sky at night.

The world is too amazing to spend time just wishing you’d done something instead of actually doing it.

Thanks for the message, @mythgirl96; hope those recommendations help!

ok im rewatching chamber of secrets and a) emma watsons acting is slightly painful wow and b) RUPERT FUCKING GRINT I CANT!!!!! Like he’s defo the best child actor in the early movies and he acts the hell out of every scene! like when ginnys been taken into the chamber and he sees the writing, his emotions are so perfect… i love him so so much, what an absolute gem

‘Chamber of Secrets’ is actually one of my preferred films in the series. Ron is still Harry’s best mate, and Steve Kloves had his dislike of the Weasley family reigned in by Chris Columbus. A lot of the child actors are a lot better (aside from awkward just-broken voices), and it’s slightly more intense than the first film.

Having said that; yeah, Emma Watson’s acting is not that good. I mean, it’s better than in the first film, and isn’t nearly as bad as she was in the last four films, but it’s not brilliant. She’s still a child actor struggling to convey her lines properly.

Rupert Grint, on the other hand? Wow, this guy hit the ground running in PS/SS, and just kept getting better with each film. In COS, you can clearly tell that he understood Ron really well, and was giving the performance his all. He’s easily one of the best young actors in the earlier films (Tom Felton was really good as well). Such a great actor; I honestly don’t understand why everyone made such a big deal about Emma Watson when Rupert Grint was right there the whole time.

I used to not ship romione bc the films ruined Ron a bit for me, then I started following this blog and started to ship it + the I fell in love with Ron bc of you and a few other Ron loving blogs showing me how amazing he is in the books and now I don’t ship it as much bc I think Ron deserves better than Hermione 😭 but I used to love her so I really really wanna ship them ahhhhh

Don’t worry, that’s quite a common problem in the fandom. The films really didn’t do Ron justice, despite Rupert Grint doing a best to salvage the character.

Thank you! I’m glad that you like my content (and that of my Ron-loving peers), and it’s always lovely to hear that I’ve done some part in helping people see how awesome Ron is.

Sometimes, I have issues with Hermione too, but my logic is that she makes Ron happy. Hermione can be problematic a lot (the tendency towards physical violence, as well as never really apologising for her bad decisions after POA), but she does love Ron, so that’s something.

And character’s aren’t a “prize” that the deserving suitor gets as a reward. They both decided to pursue a relationship with each other, and that’s the most important thing.

@burgundydahlia can probably put it into better words that I can, as I’m not really Hermione’s biggest fan.
